Impatient as I am, my hairdryer is a permanent fixture at the bench. It even has its own hanging hook like in a salon :smiling5:

Failing that I have a food dehydrator that I use as a mini oven. I don't get near its 70°C maximum though! :surprised:

I’ve got one for when I work on individual figures or busts. I always use it on cool. At a pinch you can use an airbrush with no paint in it. I don’t find it necessary for batch painted figures though. By the time I’ve got back to the first figure, it’s dry. I wouldn’t use a hairdryer with oils or enamels, by the way, you’ll just flock the figure with dust…..

Tim as these are painted in a batch I can see your point .It's just that to me it takes a long time from when I just put straight paint on to the plastic .

Ha, my hair dryer has to stay in the cupboard,there enough stuff in the bench as it is :smiling2:

I use a light box to dry paint. The light helps oils dry and the box gets warm. It also keeps the dust out. It's just a plastic box with a low wattage bulb. I just drilled a few holes in the lid for ventilation. The black tape is just where I clumsily cracked the lid when drilling :rolling:

Very neat and sensible idea Jim, I've seen people put freshly painted models under cover ,but never seen a light for heating .

Rick my old buddy , indeed they are.
Been looking U Tube at a guy called LPS models , he shows a neat way of painting Russian figures . Might strip these off and use his method .

Thanks Graeme, I was looking at my figures and thinking the base coat didn't show through enough to give some shadows . The thing is if you spend too long looking at what you've done you start to imagine other methods look better .

Hi all, been busy on the figures , buy after painting some of their kit decided a change was required .
Back to the T26. Tracks went on. Had a message from my technical advisor that the drive sockets had been assembled incorrectly ! I had wondered why some pins on the outer part didn't line up , the inner spacer was wrong . Out with my trusty saw and luckily cut the right amount off .Used the Dude 1 method of measuring , it works .:smiling:
Tracks were painted after being stuck in a carton of treatment that had been used before. Worth keeping when you've used it once . Then eased them on.
Following this I fitted the track guards . Covered the tracks up and sprayed the guards.
On board tools are in progress . Handles on the shovels are next .

Once the tools are fixed and the exhaust fully painted a coat of varnish , oh nearly for got the decals !

The finish on the bodywork looks very realistic, and the build up of the local environment on,and around, the running gear is just right IMHO ,
