So my Meng Panther is half way through and at this point i start playing with foam etc. Carving base and setting swing arms go hand in hand for a realistic 'sit'.
This pic below is my focal point....

In the yellow ring is hiding a disabled Panther from 3 Komp pz Abt 3, 2nd Panzer Div, 17 attacked without infantry support from Rauray to Le Haut du Bosq, 6 broke into the orchards and village, shooting up HQ and a column of limbered 17pdrs....handy.... 5 DCLI organised three PIAT teams and played cat n mouse for 40mins until all six were KO'd......
    Expanded foam for base,

So thats the base, lane and field, with the Panther fighting a bocage hedgerow.
Ok i had some balsa foam, i found it a bit grainy and crumbly, but a sharp pencil and an hour or so of carving i did this...

Nice start on this Nick. Interesting story as well. It shows how much the balance of power had swung away from armour by 1944. In the early war period any armour getting into that situation would be virtually unstoppable, shooting up anything it found at will. However, in 1944 six of the best tanks possessed by the Wehrmacht could be taken on and neutralised by a few guys with spring loaded drainpipes……

      Tim, a brilliant summarization....:smiling2:

I did chuckle, ....IRL elements of PzGr Abt.304 2nd Pz Div were dropped off, but 40mins after the Panthers stalked eastwards thru the morning mist, and the grenadiers were 8kms west from start point....Everybody makes mistakes....

Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry 43rd Wessex Wyverns Inf Div, they moved forward to occupy the 15th Scottish positions in Cheux and Le Haut du Bosq 0500 27/06/44, only to be confronted by these rouge Panthers as they were settling in.... 5 DCLI commander was killed, 4 HQ vehicle wrecked, the 17pdr ATG towed battery and 8 softskinned vehicles, two 6pdrs were deployed but not effective on frontal shots. Mayhem was a description by some of the troops.
Quite a mad initiation to combat.

I've also got this set of decals coming, made for 1/56th-28mm wargaming figure but the should fit a 35th figure nicely.

1st pic you can see the "Name it" plate i ordered for this dio. I will trim and fettle the bocage hedgerow, then foliating them ..... thats gonna be fun. I have 3/6 British in painting, the Germans being readied.
                    Lots to do lol

Not neglecting the Germans, i carved the sleeve off this tank crewman,, shaped it into an anatomically near correct arm, next to him is the RAMC officer tending his arm wound. The other two German crewmen will get primed later today ready for painting.
