Congratulations, Richard. The gold for "bombs away" was very well deserved. I have just had a quick look through your Belvedere build as I could not remember seeing it finished. My personal feeling is that it should have got more than a bronze, after all the work you put in on it.
        John.

Well, Tony let's say I was up against some stiff judges as I was a contender for the BOS table I was told and we'll leave it at that. John, it barely got in with the medals until one of the judges pointed out the age of the kit and the amount of work the interior got. I thought I wasn't going to get anything for it as it had crashed the night before packing up for the trip while trying to apply recognition decals. The front landing gear was in pieces and antennae bent. After emergency salvaging the wheels didn't sit properly and I gave up on the decal.

Anyway here are the pictures I promised firstly a close up of Bombs Away...followed by my favorite figures...

Thank you John B, some of those that I posted aren't even in Masterclass. Most were from a large contingent from China so there was rivalry with the Taiwanese painters for the medals. The Thais sneaked off with some.

Hi Guys, here are more images from the show. They are a mixture of Judges pick for the BOS table and judges own works...

BOS Table...there ought to be more as you can see in the background of the first image...

This BOS candidate has a story of a WAF looking out the window at a passing dove which is captured on the shadow of the suns reflection on the floor.

Great shots there Richard. The WAAF with the dove shadow is pure genius. I could probably build a reasonable facsimile of that dio with pictures and instructions, but coming up with the original idea is utterly beyond me. Every now and then something like this elevates modelling from artisan to art and I’m just grateful I could see it.

Tim Marlow has it 100% right. At this level of ability, the originality of that idea is completely breathtaking.

On a general note, re. the figure painting, what strikes me is that the super-high contrast on display really makes a massive impact. That's one thing I take away from these pictures - not saying I can achieve such high contrast effectively, but it indicates where I should be heading.

Congratulations and a well deserved Gold for your vignette, and not taking any of the plaudits away from those other magnificent bust/figure paintings, yours stood out as an original like the WAAF subject.. Again well executed and painted...
