I would imagine you were quite pleased to see the band style track. A lot easier than all that fiddling about!

Looks to be some very small, breakable parts to test your nerves…..steady as she goes I reckon :smiling4:
Thanks Si, changed my mind very quickly when I tried to fit them. ! As you

Verg true Jim, a great kit , but for someone with good sight and more experience than me I afraid.

Been down the charity shop again I see, did you buy those old mans slippers or did they give them to you if you left and stopped annoying all the other old wrinklies :smiling5:
Got a chair on the front row, but out of the line of fire...
        Cheers

Well this build went from bad to worse, I hasten to add no fault of the kit .
Plagued with hay fever my eyes have been bad. Dosed up with anti histamine tablets , eye drops and bats blood I've even pulled out of going to St Ives with Wibble for our annual competitions.

Finished the model, some of the pe to me was frightening, so small and quite honestly ridiculous to even consider putting it in the kit .I've used what I could

The tracks , so rubberly, they went on easily enough but attempting to use CA as the instructions was pointless at the join. Thank goodness this is going to be in water and thick mud as tge bottom of tgs tracks won't be seen .

Those wheels are just pushed on, no glue required. In instructions showed a plastic pin holding the spring in place, unfortunately the pin wasn't long enough so I had to drill out and use wire to finish tge assembly. I've read and re read the instructions and can't see where I went wrong Any way the suspension is on and works !

Seems to me the whole design was strange , numerous sections on the decking and engine covers , designed by a committee I would expect.I've not even attempted the upper machine gun thd support structure is built entirely from PE !
The next time this will appear it be painted

          Thanks for looking in .

Mmmm, sounds like a few kits are putting up a fight at the moment. Looking forward to seeing it painted up John.

Kits like this (AFV and MiniArt are culprits) with tiny parts can be very frustrating. Having said that you've done a good job. This will be part of one of your wonderful dios so the fact that it isn't a gold medal, stand alone model doesn't matter a damn.
Hope the hay fever improves. Pollen is high at this time

In deed Doug, just waiting for metal primer and a little TAMIYA putty I've textured the turret with to dry.

Thanks indeed Jim, to be fair its not the kits fault but they do have some very small parts. The dio should make the bad parts disappear into the mud

As you say John a strange design. the bit that gets me with this tank is why would you have the exhaust exit at the front so it can gas the driver and crew if they are stationary.

That I find most strange Paul, a sort of after thought, " where should we put the exhaust "

It's a British tank of 1940. What did you expect!:tongue-out2:

I refer all to ine of the Valentine's intended successors, the Valiant. A tank so bad, it couldn't complete it's first 13-mile test drive before the testing officer turned round and came back

Oh, and almost the entire strength of Valentines deployed against the Japanese were lost in a single engagement. Thanks to an irrigation ditch.

The strange thing is Chris the Russians loved it. They increased the armour, and up gunned it. Prone to track problems they soon found that over tensioning was the cause, and this was done by the English ! They soon increased the track width to stop it from being hindered in deep snow.

Just found this John, sorry the kit is causing you trouble, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
The Valentine Mk1 had an AEC petrol engine & was only made in small numbers, the rest had either an AEC or GM diesel engine. They were simple & easy to maintain, which is why the Soviets liked them.
