Ian and Steve.
Good to have you along in this ride to gawd knows where........
The Mk.II. idea.
A busted bridge.
I'm now keeping the bridge a simple, smaller, one arch affair, all suitable bent.
After making the thing, I cut out the middle section. Making the bridge whole then wrecking it, ensures I have the right amount of rubble. I then added re. bars and suspended a bit of hanging on road surface to the left side of the bridge.
The right side has taken the brunt of an explosion and has sheered off leaving precious little left of the bridge arch.
Early days yet, but the basics are laid down and ideas are a'flowing!
Painting in some bridge detail to follow, then I'll make a start on the water and the general layout.
Cheers.

Looking good Ron. Single arch is much more manageable.
Clever to make a bridge, knock it off the bench and accidently stand on it, swear and then try to convince us all that it was intended to be a wrecked bridge all along. Clever but sneaky😂 2😀 1Comment

Thanks for your encouraging posts chaps.
Here are the two bits of bridge with the start of a bit of colouring.
I always use those cheap pound shop acrylics for any diorama work, saving my good paints for plastic.
i work the first coat into any stonework joints; then allow this to dry and then just slurry the next coat all over the pieces, letting the paint settle where it wants. This gives a nice streaky 'Hit and Miss' effect.......
Next, a bit of muck on the road surface, then I'll have me a thunk about the surroundings.
Cheers.

Jim, Paul and Mike, thank you for your excellent comments and Mike, it's good to be back amongst my 'Buddies' on S.M. once more.
Update.
I've started to add some muck to the road section of the bridge. A soaking of PVA and then the stuff sprinkled from a dizzy height. Don't be fussy just where it all ends up. The rougher the better!
The base is a 12" square blue ceramic floor tile.
Next, the river bank.
Cheers.

The base.
I've added the river bank and weir. made with scraps of polystyrene blocks. The sides will be built up using the same stuff.
The bridge sections are loose fitted 'till I get things summat like - he hopes.
The weir structure is 'Bent' to face upstream.
Cheers and thanks for having a peep.

Thanks boys.
David, my dear chap, rather than "Simple", I prefer the term ' Basic construction'. Meaning I don't go in for all the latest 'Must haves' that are available to diorama makers. Never have done, never will. Nor have I ever been on 'tinternet to see how things are done....Then try and copy same. I prefer to do my own thing and learn as I plod along in my own time.
We all have our own style of model making. Take our good buddy Jim (Grumpa) for a superb example. We know it's his stuff 'cos it's his very own 'Stamp'
I'm strictly a what's in the kitchen/ garage cupboards scrounger. Add to that a free fall attitude, with no reference complications. That is simple modelling.
I recommend the idea to the House.
Lots of love

Update.
A bit of colour added and a small island added upstream of the bridge to add a bit of interest to that area.
Next, I'll build up the river banks.
Cheers.
