I use sand, fine, sieved, course etc on my models and bases, gives a good texture, once dried I use spray paint as a sealer then sponge washes etc to finish it off.

The Spit and dio are looking good there John.

Were Nissen Huts used during the Battle of Britain on Airfields?

Yes they were.....They were used for accommodation, general storage and bomb stores.....The latter were usually covered with turf.

I am painting a barracks shed brown. I thought of painting it camo, but from past experience when I did this, it looked messy and gimicky.

Should I use a tank on an Airfield? I never really thought of putting one in until now...

Not really John, but you can get 1/72 Bofors A.A. guns, which were used extensively on RAF airfields during the war.....Perhaps a couple of those, surrounded by sandbags?

A water tower seems viable and would be fun to build...No idea if its historicly correct.
