Very apt. With the new film coming out this year. I've read a fair bit on the whalers they were the only people to travel at those speeds on the planet.

Like Dave. I did a bit of reading on whalers when I did my whaler dio. on here recently. They were a tough bunch, often sailing away from New Bedford for 2/3 years at a time, even going to the Arctic.
I have no idea there was a new film about to be released. That should be a cracker.Comment

a chap showed me a book on whaling from the UK,and it was very
interesting as well,they were so mean ports ,that housed the whaling ships,

From what I've seen of the film it's not true to the real story but yes it was the inspiration to Moby dick it is a gruesome story though and more so being true.Originally posted by \ta Dave so glad that you like it,

need to keep things interesting so they mess with the story line a bit,
and add in more action than there was,lol,
