Sarnia Miniatures RAF female Tornado pilot, circa 1994.

Finished this off this morning. An interesting bust to paint and another great sculpt from Peter Gillson.

    From Sarnia miniatures Web site
This bust was inspired by Joanna Salter who in became the RAF's first fast jet pilot, who joined 617 Squadron in 1994 and declared to be combat ready the following February flying Tornado aircraft.

Since she led the way, there have been many female fast jet pilots in the RAF and this is a generic bust of a pilot wearing equipment from circa 1994.

I think this is a different and fitting tribute in the RAF’s Centenery year.

Oils for flesh, the rest in acrylic.

Nicely done Graham. I really like your colour palette - very lush.

The face looks porcelain, very special. I'd be in trouble painting a women's head I'm afraid...

I am never happy with female faces myself. They should be easier but it doesn't feel like it:thinking:
