British Ww2 RAC AFV Crew Member 1/35 Scale.

    Hi Folks,

This could be my final figure for a while, maybe indefinitely....

It was very difficult, lots of horrid ultra fine detailing and endless cutting in with whittled down cocktail sticks, was arduous and, at times, confounding but I'm satisfied with the end result here, wanted to pull out all the stops to achieve the best I could!

    Hope you all enjoy this.

    Kind Regards,

    Gavin.Click image for larger version

        Really spot on Gavin.
I love the way you paint eyes; my figures always look as if they are cross eyed or had some LSD in their breakfast :dizzy:.

Thanks for your compliments folks. Yeah getting the eyes looking realistic is difficult Andy. I recommend shaving down a cocktail stick to a very fine point, and with a steady hand applying the irises.

          Regards,

          Gavin.

Nothing wrong with the figure, and do more - the more you do the better you get.

This! Why stop now, when you're getting better and better?! There may be a step-change in the results you're getting just waiting for you round the corner, after all. Never ceases to amaze me how I think my hobbying has plateaued, and then out of left-field I make a big breakthrough and take my figures up a level. You never know when the next one will happen!

Or do you have designs on diving in to a competely different branch of modelling?

Looks great! I'm currently painting some 1/16 crew for the Achilles. I can't find anything clear about the beret colour for RA Anti Tank AFV crews. Some seem to point towards khaki, others black, and I can't make up my mind which. Does it depend on the unit?

I researched beret colours for this RAC AFV figure and black was by far the most common so that's a safe bet I'd say.

                              Hi Paul,

I probably will not stop altogether, I just don't think I can personally improve, to a significant discernable degree, on the projects I've done. I know what you're saying and its a good point, you basically never stop learning in this sort of hobby. I just need a break because the last 3 figures have been so arduous but no doubt I will want to get back on the horse after a minor hiatus, despite what I've said.

I love this hobby and old habits die hard! There, I've almost done a 360 on my assertion already....

                              Regards,

                              Gavin.
