Airfix 1:12 London Icons part 1 life guard trumpeter

Heres my next build, the Airfix London Icons set....

Not a bad set for only £3.99 from modelzone, considering you get 15 paints, glue and a couple of brushes.

This is my first attempt at large scale figures, got the torso together, started on the arms. Typical airfix, some fit issues, gonna need some fettling

    More soon,

    Cheers, Andrew

never seen anyone do these so am interested to say the least.

The fit does look very poor, something that'll definitly need some fettling

What's the level of detail in the faces like?

I've looked at these on the airfix website and wondered what they would build up like, so I'll follow your build with interest.

          Tony.

Not bad considering, only problem with the lifeguard is that the face is in two parts, with a join down the middle at the front. Gonna take some work to get rid of any seam without losing the detail!!!!!

            Cheers, Andrew

Hi guys, more progress, got him standing on his own 2 feet....

Every part you assemble needs filling and sanding, enjoying it tho!!!!

              Cheers, Andrew

Hi guys, another update, started on his head, you can see the join down the middle that needs sorting....

The fit on his other arm was as bad as the first...

Even the soles of his boots are about 3 sizes too big!!!!

                Cheers, Andrew

Some nice work Andrew, it wouldn't be Airfix without some filling and sanding

Watching your build here Andrew. It's something different, and I am always amazed how well these figures are usually painted.
