    Greek hoplite body armour

    anyway back to modelling

I'm halfway through painting a Greek Hoplight figure and I just wanted a yes or a no on whether this needs more shading on the armour

I feel it to be suitably shaded.

If you let me make a suggestion.Use a small piece of sponge(like armour guy's do) and tap it lightly into the base silver you used, tap most of it off on a piece of paper and then lightly tap some colour onto the highlight areas of the model. .

    Hope this is helpful.

    Ralph.

The shading looks good to me.

I do not want to upset anyone and I am not an expert on the ancient greeks but wasn't hoplite armour bronze?

Thanks Ralph I've done that now , I think it looks ok but what I think might not be what others think so here's a pic

It proved a bit difficult with the arms on with a sponge so I tried it with a brush

I don't know too much about it myself Dave TBH but maybe it was spartan armour who had the bronz armour that what I've seen on other figure but the instructions could be wrong I don't know

It definitely makes that subtle difference.

I do like it Alan, and would of said what Ralph.,has,

                          looking good,

as I used the same method on my predator armour,as well,

it can be difficult to use a brush to dab ,as it can hold to little or to much paint,

as I,m finding trying to get a hessian cloak just right,

Hi Alan looks good but bronze is the norm for Greek armour, breastplate, helmet and greaves, because iron was a rare comodoty they were normally used just for swords, spear and arrow heads. I have a great recipe for painting bronze if you want it
