    Tommys War 1/10th scale bust - Corporal, East African Mounted Rifles, Mount Longido 1915

    A couple of hours with a wet palette and AK flesh paint set - colours mixed to gain grater tonal range and i got to this point;





    Please excuse quality of the photos, quick snaps before heading to work this morning on my iphone

            A couple of 'better quality' photos;





            Started blocking in the Base colours, needs touching up in a few spots, then onto the highlight and shadow washes;

                I really like the work you have done on the eyes there Steve mate, to me there are always one of the most difficult things to paint and get right,

                  Spent a nice relaxing hour or so weathering up the bush hat last night, wet on wet washes to get variations in the tones on the hat, not forgetting the underneath. Started with dark tones around the base and above and below the cheetah band, then added a lighter tone and mixed this in dragging away from the dark tone. Repeated process with mid tones, until the lightest wash was added to the middle areas, edges of the brim and the peak of the hat, just needs a couple of coats of matt varnish, then a couple of drops of either fuel spills or engine grime to replicate sweat and muck.
