Well, there's Northern fish and chips and Southern fish and chips.....
Wife and eldest daughter laid up ill, so Christmas dinner was down to self and younger daughter. Needless to say the operation ran like clockwork, though I ended up holding the baby and eating dinner one-handed (plenty of experience of that).Comment

Don't you just love this forum, any visitors must wonder who these " strange people are " no mention of, well hardly any of modelling but talk about the merits of Southern / Northern Fish and Chips.
They need to be cooked in beef lard and not this new fangled vegetable oil, not my words but a friend from Up North.
Sorry to read Peter that Katherine is struck down along with the eldest. Hope the baby stays well .

Hi chaps.
I suspect everyone swears by their own favourite chip shop and how to cook them etc. My wife has early memories of going to the chip shop with her grandfather, an ex miner, in Ferryhill Co. Durham. He just went up to the counter and said ''Twice.'' Last fish and chips I had wrapped in actual newspaper was in Hull, c.1985.Comment

Beef dripping blocks best for Fish.n chips. As i live in Clacton on Essex coast there are a fair few Chippies around.Never tried Rock n chips or Skate tho.Do any of you get the bits that falls off batter?,I like a nice bit of Scampi.Been to Whitby once and had Scampi.Very very busy in Summer and there was a steam bus charging around and bloody piddled down with rain so didnt go to The Dracula abbey.
We certainly cover some random subjects my friends!!!.
How many are having Boxing day buffet?.
Enjoy gang.

Great chip chat, well done......
Just out of interest, and to extend the knowledge a little, my Gran came from Hastings, and always had Rock Huss and chips when we went back visiting. She never asked for “Rock and chips” though, to her it was always “Robin’ us” . Probably a local Hastings thing....
Cheers

Lee - Thanks for putting the thread back on track!
To the rest of you, chips are GOD'S OWN FOOD and a little banter at Christmas, however mad, drives away the winter blues.
Jim - I had rock once, not realising that it is actually dogfish (hence the poor man's cod). Quite strong tasting as I remember. Not a great fish fan, so it's usually pie time for me.Comment

There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis
But he's a liar and I'm not sure about you
