1/35 Tamiya British soldiers WW1

Hello, some time after finishing my 1/72 Spitfire, my Christmas presents were Tamiya 1/35 figures. The WW2 infantry will be good but the challenge are the WW1 infantry. Seeing how the uniforms changed from 1914 onwards is seen but some simple colours are not obvious. So anyone who knows, can they help me please? (Paint colour!)

What is the correct paint colour for WW1 boots? Brown or Black? Were they variable or also uniform age related?

    In advance, many thanks!

Ok, figures now out of the box with the first soldier removed from the frame. Next bit is to remove the attachment lumps and casting lines. Then start some assembly of the body. Never done this before so apologies for showing obvious simple or doing it wrong, just tell me.

And some first paint. Actual figure next.

Base paint applied. Assemble the figure then more paint after adding items and custom made parts

First one complete. Now the others to do, then decide on grouping them.

Very, very nice John. Full of life and the colours look spot-on.

Thanks Peter. First figure I've done so feel ok with it. Positive is fitting extra bits to make it more accurate (straps, sling etc.) but negative is first skin and face painting. 1/35 is not easy to me but lets see how the next figure turns out! As I keep saying, your skill encourages me, so thank you for comment.
