Thanks for the great photos Greg. He's just going to be left as he is however. Perhaps his helmet mesh got caught up in his harness on landing and he had to cut it free? There's a million reasons why and how he could be wearing the combination he is and the rest is down to artistic licence.

Morning Peter
A bright and breezy Bank Holiday Monday.
A bright and breezy uniform discussion too.
Artistic license will always prevail, and a superb job on the drapery, Peter
That must have been a real pleasure to paint.
Well done.
Looks like another good day for you with the trousers, though they aren't quite as creased.
Last day before work, and yet another chance to get that darned head on my bust painted!
Have a great Bank Holiday
Have you heard of and/or tried Scale 75 paints?
Regards

Lee - Glad you like him.
Steve - Weather not too bad for a bank hol, though not really barbecue weather. On to the lower half of the figure today and no doubt more uniform discussion (!).
I haven't tried Scale 75 paints - 'if it ain't broke' in my book. When I first restarted the hobby I assumed that everyone still used Humbrol enamels and Plaka (remember those?). After struggling for a year or so, then coming across Vallejo, I became hooked.
Hope you get time to work on the head...Comment

Jim - It took me a while to get used to Vallejo, but now I couldn't work with anything else.
Ralph - I seem to remember that Plaka was quite hard to use - quite odd stuff, being an emulsion. Never got on with Tamiya I'm afraid.

Cheers Ralph.
I've built this twice before and I don't remember it being so complicated to paint. Obviously finding more detail this time.Comment

Thanks Richard.
I'm actually beginning to prefer these plastic kit figures over resin. Plastic is easier to work with construction wise, is lighter in the hand, and seems to allow for more complicated detail (if not crisper) than resin. I've now got a small stash of Tamiya favourites, plus one Miniart hoplite to work on.Comment

Morning Peter
More super work on the trousers.
Vallejo have been my go to paint for brushwork, the Model Air is OK, but the colour sets for specific periods and camo are better for the AB.
Should be a good day to finish the figure today?
Back to work and its a grey day, just right for more sunny showers.
Have a good day with the paint

Lee - Thanks for approving.
Steve - Not sure if I'll get it finished today. The equipment seems to be taking me longer these days and some of this will need the little 'US' letters adding, which is time-consuming.
Sunshine and showers here and colder, though with the promise of heat by the end of the week. Modelling work will slow down a bit from tomorrow as my daughter and granddaughter will be here for a week and a half - I'm childishly excited.
Hope the return to work is a happy one.Comment
