Steve - Glad you like the idea for our man. It does give a free range to the palette, which makes a nice change - chance to experiment with technique too, as you say. I don't really have anything else that will suit at the moment. I've noticed that in a lot of the photos they're wearing mackinaw style coats, so perhaps US figure may provide a source.

Greg - Yes, as portrayed by Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell and Liev Shreiber in the film 'Defiance.'

          Morning Peter.
Just having coffee and toast so having a look around .
Splendid idea, and what a twist using that head.
The bravery of these people infighting back is amazing , certainly no quarter given if they were caught.
          Will join the rest .

            Hi John

Hope the coffee and toast went down well.

I'm glad the head worked out. I had to cut the top off to accommodate the hat, fill the gap, then build up the hair with filler, which can get messy. Fortunately, Delux putty can be applied with a brush, so you get some control.

Caught between a rock and a hard place, the Jews of Eastern Europe - fight or die. Fortunately some were able to escape into the vast forests and marshlands to avoid the post-Barbarossa round-ups, and there their numbers were added to by the very few concentration camp escapees. The Jews of the more metropolitan areas of Western Europe had nowhere to run to. At least some of the ghetto Jews had a chance to fight back, as in Warsaw, but ultimately they were either killed or captured.

The main part of the figure is done:

Today, I finished off the jacket and painted the trousers and boots. I mounted him on a base at this stage so that I could weather the boots to match the ground colour.

                Hi Peter
Well up to your usual high standard. Love the head and the furry hat.

Stunning work Peter. The jacket is detailed well with many folds. Is that due to the sculpt or have you painted some more on freehand??

                      Morning Peter

Looks good, have you amped up the contrast and highlights?

Should be a good day with all the accessories, and the light too, though its a little grey here.

Started watching the new version of Catch 22, it benefits from the latest CGI with the flight scenes.

Interesting concept and well presented too.

It would be labelled PTSD today, cowardice in WWI and WWII.

Nearly weekend and another chance to do some modelling, dependent on what Anna can break today!

Enjoy the paints and another summers day

                      Regards

                      Steve H

Steve J - The jacket is very well sculpted, and it's benefited from being painted brown instead of black. The folds and creases are all sculpted, though I did add a few more to the trousers. I must admit that I'm finding more and more to admire in these Dragon figures.

Steve H - Bright and sunny morning here and promising to be a hot one.

I have tried to up the contrast with this one, but it doesn't come naturally too me.

I've been watching Catch 22 as well, but I find the constant advert breaks too diverting. I think I prefer the Alan Arkin film as it better captures the feel of the book - crazy humour, deep satire etc etc. Of all Joseph Heller's novels I enjoyed Something Happened the most, though Good as Gold is hilarious.

Fingers crossed for some bench time this weekend - you deserve it!

                            Peter

I see you've been experimenting. Looks very nice particularly on the trousers.

                              Ralph - Many thanks.

John - Thanks also. 'Cautiously experimenting' is the term.

                              OK, he's finished:
