    Tamiya 1/16 US Infantryman

Morning people. Another modern subject for me, Tamiya's US infantryman in desert gear. This lends itself to a Gulf War scenario, and there's also the option of depicting a Ranger in Somalia in 1993 to team with my Delta Force figure.

This is a great kit, with two pose options and various equipment options:

The section of tubing is for the Camelbak water pouch. I'll probably go with the second pose, as it leaves the face clear and shows more of the equipment.

          Thanks for looking in chaps.

Part assembled and ready to paint:

There were some fairly heavy mould lines and joins to sort out, but otherwise this was pretty straightforward. I'm going to use the first head, as the second looks as though he's sticking his tongue out at the enemy - the first has a slight aiming squint, but it should be OK.

I've prepared the night vision glasses and Camelbak, though I may not use them. There was more equipment supplied than could be used, giving a range of options, so five or six extra pieces have gone into the spares box.

              Morning Peter

              Good holiday?

              Everything OK?

I'm signed off work now, as my knee has given up!

Could still be months before I get my new knee though!

Hope everything is OK for a good day with the paints

              Regards

              Steve H

Hi Peter which camo pattern are you going for the front box art or the instructions option.
                Pete.

                  Hi Peter
A modern figure with interesting camo. I'm sure it will be a stunner.
                  Jim

Scottie - Make yourself comfy, this may take some time.

Steve - A great time in Wiltshire visiting the prehistoric sites - Avebury is one of the most amazing places I've ever been, and that includes the Acropolis, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Only problem is that Katherine and I came back with 'flu, and for the first time in years I haven't felt like picking up a paintbrush. May give it a go tomorrow.

Pete - I'm going for something more like the box art. The desert camo on the painted example doesn't look right, and the swatch on the side of the box is nothing like it.

Jim - It's a good kit, so should paint up OK. Having the 'flu makes it look more daunting though...

                      Morning Peter

Hopefully on the mend, both of you?

It must be bad if Katherine has succumbed, not just "man Flu"

Your paints and brushes will be waiting for you when you are better.

Off to find Nigella seeds to make pear chutney.

                      Keep warm and hydrated

                      Regards

                      Steve H

                        Peter.
Late in, sorry, but at least you haven't started the paint side.
                        Doesn't 1993 sound a long time ago now ?

Steve - Still poorly, so I may put this one aside and work on a bust in the meantime. Katherine's actually worse than I am, so it must be genuine.

John - Well, 26 years ago was a lifetime for my kids - prehistory for them.

Nothing worse than both of you feeling unwell.
As Stephen says " not just man flue "
Give Katherine our best and hope you both recover fully soon.
At least she won't have you out training !
