    Hi Richard

Well I never learn. The pilot is a no-no too. I thought I might be able to beat the Prussian and USAAF man into submission, but the faces were truly awful. I couldn't replace the heads as I had nothing suitable, and anyway, they had very specific headgear. Destroyed both in a fit of pique I'm afraid, otherwise I would have sent them on to you.

The Demi Brigade bust is one of the few good ones. Here's my version:

Off to see if the Foreign Legion chap is going to play ball.....

      Peter,
Sorry to hear about your woes with the faces. The Demi brigade head is excellent.

        Cheers Scottie

The Foreign Legionnaire was also a load of rubbish, so that bit the dust too. A complete waste of time and the last time I buy cheap busts - they were the dregs of the stock for a reason!

Peter, If you can't make those weird faces look nice then nobody can I assume :smiling2:. You got so much experience with figure-painting, love your work. Cheers :thumb2:

            Morning Peter

Sorry about babbling on about my knee when you have been left home alone!

Well nearly, has Katherine arrived yet?

Your Verlinden busts, were a "bust"! That is really sad that they were all below par.

More recycling? 2nd hand busts from Ali Express? Preparation for a New Years Eve blowout?

We will be having a cheese buffet for 2.

Its a clear frosty start up't North.

Have a good day and Happy 2020

            Regards

            Steve H

Peter,I'm sure I could have Dremelled the face out of the pilot and sculpted something tolerable, why don't you pm me next time this happens and let's see if we can rescue some of these?

Steven - This stuff happens. I'm a bit peeved, but silk purses and sow's ears and all that.

Steve - It's been a weird Christmas, what with my son's relationship break-up and Katherine's imminent departure for NZ. She and Naomi were in Shanghai at the last update - 12 hours there, then a further 12 hours on to NZ. Thought I'd feel more bereft, but chin is firmly up and not quivering. I've just stripped down an old SK Miniature samurai bust and I have a massive 1/5 thing coming. Then I really must get back into 1/16 figures - a few in the stash. Will probably be asleep when the clock strikes 12 - the baby wears us all out by 9.

Neil - I'm definitely feeling my lack of sculpting skills. I may well take you up on that offer. It must be great to be able to sort these things out. What surprises me about these Verlindens is that they are so carefully finished generally, yet still have major flaws, usually to the face.

Seriously, Peter - it would be a pleasure, but you'd have to promise not to bin it :tears-of-joy: !

Many thanks Neil and Richard. I'll bear you both in mind when the next terrible head turns up, though I intend to stop buying crummy busts in future!
