My next bust will be of a French Foreign Legionnaire at the Battle of Cameron, Mexico, 30th April 1863. The battle occurred during the second French intervention in Mexico, and saw 65 legionnaires holed up in a hacienda and surrounded by 3000 Mexicans. The French fought until they ran out of ammunition and then the survivors made a last desperate bayonet charge. 19 were captured alive after inflicting 490 casualties. It's the Legion's defining moment and is still celebrated today in a lavish memorial parade.
The three-part sculpt:
Always nice to have a separate head.
The box art hasn't done full justice to the uniform, as the epaulettes should be a much brighter green:
Fingers crossed.
