Partially built, all cleaned up and ready for painting:

The build was not too bad. There were one or two fit issues and some parts were a bit over-engineered - the arms for example were in five parts, which was a bit silly. As I experienced with the ICM Viking, the delicate engraving was all but lost on things like the wrist guards because of the sanding and filling required, so I ended up smoothing them off completely. I'd say that was the only real drawback with the figure - that the detail is somewhat delicate and easily lost.

The other problem I had was with the u-shaped support for the crest, which was supplied in two very delicate parts and which I managed to snap into several pieces. I had to make a new one, then shape the crest to fit it. There was a bit of filler needed, but hopefully it will look OK once painted.

I also dug out the Miniart shield and a spear I made for another figure:

I fancy depicting him with a sheathed sword and holding the spear.

OK he’s a Wo man soldier but I will not add any rude comments this time. I’ll watch quietly from the shadows,as usual, but still hoping that you find enjoyment from him.
Ive just noticed on the enlarged photo that the shield has outlines engraved. A man of your obvious skill should be helped by that. We all know that you could do it. Have a go, unless it would be too painful.
If I hadn’t been in such a rush I would have read you first post properly!

        Very restrained of you Andy!

Yes there is a design engraved on the shield. I will attempt it, but I'm unsure of which colours to use 0 yellow/gold will be very thin, so perhaps white for the wings etc?

          Morning Peter

Looks like everything is ready for a good days painting

Even a Sub for the shield lined up too.

Floods all over the North, and as expected the Calder Valley yet again!

We have snow predicted for tomorrow as a dessert to Ciara's main course!

          Have a good day.

          I'm gong to hibernate LOL

          Regards

Hi Steve - Clear skies and high winds here. Several big branches littering the road and lots of sirens.
Batten down the hatches for the snow up t'North.

On to the face today and it's ages since I painted one this small.

After all that I've decided I'm not going to carry on with this.

              I attempted the head:

I had trouble when building the helmet, finding that the two halves wouldn't match up, and having to do a lot of filling and sanding in an effort to get a smooth finish. I failed in that, as evidenced by the terrible paint-job, which emphasised all the lumps and bumps. I also found that the detail on the cheek-guards was not as clean as it looked on the sprue, which meant that there were a lot of wavering lines when they were painted. Such would be the case with a lot of areas on the rest of the figure, particularly the leather and fringing.

I did feel when putting the whole thing together initially that getting a clean paint job might be difficult, and on reflection, and after painting the head, I've decided that I just wouldn't enjoy the struggle.

              Sorry folks.

                  Morning Peter

I saw a You Tube, which had the figure, fully painted and looking so "Action Man" with solid blocked colours.

Shame it hasn't lived up to its hoped for potential, into the box for redistribution?

We are waiting for the snow arriving, its only 2 C, very windy, with heavy cloud cover, so it would seem to be just a matter of time?
We shall watch the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe when it starts snowing, a real treat, for snow effects and Mr Tumnus, and a drink too if its PM

Whats next on the list, other than house work ready for Katherine's return?

Have a good day either way

                  Regards

                    Morning Steve

To be honest the thing was all a bit weedy. The detailing was too delicate and a bit apologetic and the complicated construction in some areas really compromised the sculpt. I've decided on some Tamiya therapy and have dug out one of their 1/16 figures to work on.

Very windy here, but no snow predicted. There should be a lull to enable Katherine to land at Heathrow tomorrow. Have been cleaning and tidying the house, though it's not the sort of thing she'd notice - she's untidier that the three kids and dog put together.
