    Sgt William Gardner VC

    Hi Guys

    here is my latest bust project - a return to VC recipients, this time another of the Victorian period, Sgt Willian Gardner who was awarded the VC for an action during the Indian Mutiney when he saved the life of his commanding officer. The bust is based upon a photo (below) which was taken after the Crimean war and before his VC action.

    As normal, I started with the head, painted withoil paints over a base coat of Vallejo acrylics:

              steve - Modeling VC holders has been a theme for my modelling for a few years now, I need to take a big breath, but here is the list:

                        By'eck Mr Gillson you're good at this. The sculpt is great and the painting really brings it to life. As others have said that is an excellent beard.

                              next the pack needs to be painted, after that a little refinement and touching up.
