    Truck hits F104G (Peer, Belgium)

Happend this morning near the airbase of Kleine Brogel.

The accident happened around 6:45 am. The truck driver was driving on the Noordweg towards Bree and wanted to cross the roundabout. But he said he started to skid due to the slippery road surface. The truck drove straight through the roundabout and rammed the pole on which the F-104 Starfighter stands. The driver was not injured. At first glance, the monument did not sustain any major damage. The truck is being towed. The accident caused a lot of traffic jams near the roundabout.

I am pleased that the aircraft didn't suffer any damage. As for the driver, well I have no sympathy. What ever excuse he comes up with he was driving too fast for the conditions. Roundabouts are notorious for being a potential slide zone, if its not ice then there is always the threat of spilt diesal and he should know that.

Yes I think the same, looking at the height of the roundabout, the distance he slid... He was either sleeping or busy on his phone (imho)

A little off topic. But I still find it amazing that these 104's managed to fly with such small wings.

If he was asleep that would have been one hell of a wake up call ?
