    Forum History

Many new forum members are likely unaware of the asylum references that speak of 'Matron' and refer to forum members' bed #s. Matron dispensed injections to patients. JR was obviously interred for pyromania ( he had used real fire to "weather" his dios) & at one time there was a thread where we were making home brew to bribe an orderly in order to break out a member in another ward. His infirmity is lost to memory, but his bed # is still referred to occasionally. Matron & her injections were referred to when a member's behavior or comment was deemed in need of her intervention with poster's tongue firmly in cheek. I was a member of the ongoing escape committee and the 'Rabble'. This referenced a fluid group of members who posted/commented often w/humor and were somewhat unruly.

OOOH - such heresy! Matron is a Goddess'; she stalks the wards of the failing and is known to 'visit' outlying and unwary transgressors by means of her throaty Velocette Venom (motor bike to the youfs amongst us) to deliver shots of 'Remedial Nostrum' to those that have yet to see the light! Should another pyromaniac emerge then beware! The bonfire of the Y-fronts is soon to pop up on the calendar. Read and weep Benighted Unbelievers!

Members who were spotted with clean and tidy work tables were suspected of contracting the Nomojo virus thus the prescription was handed out with a certificate of excellence to the smallest of work area available on the table top...be it in the kitchen, living room, garage, hotel room, veranda or man cave. Everyone gets a round of decals juice and the sounds of rattling tinlets in pockets as we stirr up the paints in our merryment that building has begun. Matron will be doing her rounds to keep us in check. John R Bed#(Wobble) will be companied by the fire brigade or seated next to an extinguisher. Those who are accepting the dangly award from him be suitably attired in fire retardant clothing. I remember everyone bringing their own seats to these gatherings and whatever condiments that was served became projectiles in a fight until Matrons needle was shown.
This I remember very well and hope the tradition continues.

              Cheers,
              Wabble

Probably. It was the spark that gave the forum life, but it seems sadly diminished these days.

For those that were in on the joke

The reason the 'spark is diminished' is cos people left

The reason people left is cos they didnt like change and had no patience to learn a new layout whilst bugs were ironed out ......took me 10 minutes ?

Fully agree. The bit I didn’t get was that they thought it better to move to somewhere else where they would have had to learn another interface anyway…….all water under the bridge now though, so that’s why I think we should stay as is and move forward rather than throw it all up in the air again.

I believe this all started on another forum before the great influx here a few years ago.

.....John, John, John, you prolly were absorbed in bidness dealings & missed out. It did indeed begin elsewhere but continued here for some time.

I agree with that. Going to a new place and starting all over again is the same as if they stayed. They forget they don't own the site. I'm just happy to post even if I only get one reply that helps the mojo flowing. I'm surprised by the impatience.

                            Cheers,

Confession time and also to clear up any misunderstanding and allowing folks to point the correct finger at the creature who first mentioned 'Matron'

It was I, way back on the original Scale Models forum.

Since then she has caused much merriment, and yes, fear too. She has grown from just a simple soul trying to keep things in order to the evil, needle waving creature she has become....

So please accept my most sincere apologies for all the suffering Matron has and no doubt will, inflict upon all who step out of line.

                              Your humble servant.

                              Ron
