Decided that my bench was a tip so I used my Christmas bonus and the money I have saved since giving up smoking and ordered this lot from John.

Late delivery from postie - a pre-owned goodie ( what happened to secondhand? )
A real oddity - how many pure jet tail-draggers went into production, let alone served on aircraft carriers?
Looks like a simple model of a simple jet......

Based on the Supermarine Spiteful supposedly Dave. Thereโ€™s one at Yeovilton....apparently they made a right mess of grass airfields...

IIRC thatโ€™s one of the reasons the Me 262 got a nose wheel after the first couple of prototypes.

Well, with the Gloster E28/39, the Meteor and the Vampire all having nosewheel undercarriage, you would have thought that Supermarine would have followed the trend! However, as the Attacker was developed from the Spiteful, Supermarine used the Spiteful jigs & tooling, to save time & money. At that time, jet development was rapid, and it was evident that early aircraft would have a limited service life, so maybe Supermarine were right in retaining the tailwheel.
