Pete

Great choice of model to build, it might be a summer winter summer project though. I hope you will blog it. I have built a few of these wooden kits and had a great time with all of them.

If you find that the wood is a bit to dry, a quick bath in warm water helps stop the planks splitting. Being so thin they often dry out so much they snap as soon as you try to bend them.

I’ve got the non-ambulance version, but am still waiting for a shop to send me the Voyager etched set I decided to buy for it about two months ago … Maybe I should send them an email.

I’ve seen those boxes around, but never the insides. I presume, since it’s AFV Club, that this kit is lightyears ahead of the nice-but-1970s Tamiya effort that’s pretty much the standard for M113s in 1/35 scale?

Got this today, I’ve been waiting for it for a few weeks now. But a slight overkill on the packaging.

They worked as expected John, I always used two sized brushes for the decal work and these fit in nicely.:thumb2:

Used it on a Toon’s ip decal last weekend and no leaks or any dissolving brushes due to the solvent in Micro Set and Sol.
As they are intended for water, I think they are great for fixing pigments and maybe if a pigment fixer is fluid enough it will work too.:rolling:

                                Three second-hand aircraft for me:

A Matchbox Vickers Wellesley, not quite the really old kit because it doesn’t have a window in the back of the box, but it’s three colours of plastic and very yellowed decals:

This is one Matchbox aircraft I never built as a child, and a plane I’ve always liked the looks of for some odd reason, ever since seeing it in the catalog.

The F-16 I bought mainly because of the paint scheme — I don’t keep up with aircraft shows and demo planes, but this one just looked cool enough to build. All I need to do now, apparently, is find a rattle can of Ford No. 6SFE electric orange, and preferably one that doesn’t cost twice what the kit did.

As for the Privateer, I built the original Matchbox kit ages ago, and always liked it so for €15 I couldn’t really pass up on it. (Dave, if you happen to read this: if you wanted this one and I bought it away from under your nose, I’ll happily sell it on to you for what it cost me, plus postage of course )
