They look like the packing for artillery shells.

      Thanks Bob,

I sort of thought the same, but there were no sides or lids in the set. They also appear to be for modern arty shells too.

The pic above is from my Korean war era M-40. I guess they removed the sides when in a firing position for ease of access??

That makes sense to me. I seem to remember a picture in a Verlinden catalog from many years ago showing the same. Thanks again!

Hi Greg, Thanks buddy, but again it's a case of mistaken identity Sir!!! I bought only one box of parts like I wrote Jim above. I am on a diet, "No Kits, No Kits, No Kits"!!! Just parts…….

Speaking of parts, this was in the bag of resin ammo boxes in the €25 lot,

The 12 cases on the bottom left are cast with 3 empty, 4 with rounds and 5 closed. I just don't know what the pieces on the right are used for. The ones with 6 holes and the others with 8 holes. Any ideas???
            Maybe for 37mm rounds?

For inside vehicle storage racks? Look like 15cm (6 hole) & 7.5cm (8 hole). PaulE

They’re for storing 155 mm (eight holes) and 203 mm artillery (six holes) projectiles: the plate with the shallow impression is at the bottom so the shells can sit on it, the one with the holes holes over the top; a couple of straps hold the lot together. The rounds, by the way, should have lifting eyes screwed into the fuze wells at this time. That is, like this:

If the model parts are plastic, then my bet is they’re either from AFV Club’s 155 mm/203 mm ammo set or their M548 tracked cargo vehicle (that that ammo set originally formed part of).

Thank you all so much for the help. Bob and Jako hit the nail on the head. I'm not sure if the parts are plastic or resin. I probably won't be using them in the near or far future. The rest of the collection will show up sometime in another build though....

                    Thanks again all,

                    Prost

Ahh, my favourite, sprue 141 - very handy little things

I recently stocked up on them and noticed that their definition has gone down (and the price up) when compared to the ones I got 30yr ago - could do with a bit of re-tooling

I do like their spares range though - in addition to the 141's I got various barrels, a donkey, farm tools, pots, pans, bottles, dogs

In our Secret Santa (£10 limit) I pulled the head of our department out of the hat. She is a bit of geek/nerd and mentioned a made mention a while ago of a good Christmas memory of making a Millenium Falcon with her father. I discovered that Revell do one and managed to pick up the full model set - glue, paint and brush - for only £10.84, whereas it's normally £12.99.

Finally and this is a biggie - my first proper airbrush to replace the cheap Chinese ones that came with the compressor I got last year. I have been taking time over this purchase but as I'm on a limited sub £100 budget and so had to be careful.

This came recommended from someone on another forum who has tested over 20 airbrushes ranging from cheap Chinese jobs to 'state of the art' £200+ ones and this is by his experience is the best he has ever used. Apparently it's made by the same company that makes the Iwata brushes and according to a review video shares a number of common parts with their brushes.

I did nearly pick up the H&S Ultra 2 in 1 (again after recommendation) but read a couple of reviews that mentioned a couple of minor issues but of course, now I have started down the slippery slope I'm sure more will come my way in the future!

Best of all though is that I have three days off next week as it's half term holidays for the kids, so it will hopefully get some use soon.
