Think your right, only other version in 1/35 is the resin one by Accurate Armour, which cost a lot more than I would think the HB one will retail for.

I think they’re pulling a Hasegawa: release the same kit a couple dozen times with one or two added or removed parts and different markings.

Hang on Jakko surely dragon must be pushing for top spot with their pz 3s and 4s , although I must admit Hasegawas run on the phantoms was very impressive.

                    David,
I think Hasegawa must hold the record - I believe that there are ( were ) over 70 iterations of the 1/72 A6M Zero

I agree with Dave, Hasegawa releases a ton of versions of many of their kits, especially aircraft, that just have different markings and painting instructions. Scalemates lists 61 1:72 scale A6M Zero kits, for example, and it gets worse: guess how many F-4 Phantom kits they have released?

Their 1:72 scale AFVs aren’t quite as bad, but they do do things like put a long barrel instead of a short one on the box, with no other changes, and call it a new kit. Why not just put both in one kit, I wonder?

99.99% of the time, the answer to "Why don't they ....?" is money!

Struth Jakko I won't say here it will spoil other people's fun but that is bloody impressive, the whys and where fors of these manufacturers could start another thread somewhere else. Dave

That was my first thought too, but it doesn’t really make sense here: the kit shouldn’t get any more expensive to make by adding or removing one or two parts — in fact it gets more expensive by doing all the different versions. At the same time, modellers who want both version will simply either buy two kits, so the income will be the same for the manufacturer.

The only reason I can think of is that they want to have an extensive range without actually releasing completely new kits.
