Andy,
the word 'Deltic' still brings back bad memories of working on the Napier Deltic engine............. It was used on some patrol boats made for some African State. They'd been brought back to overhaul the engines ( Vospers. Southampton ) I thought I knew about diesels, but they were a totally different ballgame, fiendishly complicated, and shoehorned into a space that was totally inadequate for maintenance! Keyhole surgery with special spanners! ( I think the trains could have their engines removed for overhaul ). I think everyone on the team had grazes, cuts, bruises and pulled muscles from the contortions needed to undo, and redo parts..................
