Got this superb book from Bookworld wholesale in their sale, usually retails for £40.00, this one was listed for £20 (damaged), the book arrived yesterday, still in its shrink wrapping, so got a real bargain, the photography within is sublime and its a hefty tome. A4 landscape (A3 when opened);
Apologies for not being around much recently, just not had the time to check in regularly. I have been plodding along with a few bits and pieces though, so hopefully will be able to post some updates in the near future.
As I've managed to save quite a bit of miscellaneous spending in the lock-down and I needed some paints for the RAF kits I have in the stash (I have almost none), I decided to splash out on this Vallejo set. I needed/wanted some dunkelgelb(ish) colours.
Although I have decent 0.2mm AB for the finer work, I have been plodding on with some cheap bottom-fed AB's for bulk work. I didn't have a huge budget but after reading some recommendations on here I splashed out on this Sparmax. Less than £60 and spares/replacements are not stupidly expensive like they are for my other AB :cold-sweat:.
All ordered from John. Superb service as always - ordered late Tuesday and arrived this morning. And saved almost £5 with the supporters discount too!! Just don't tell SWMBO what I had to spend to get that level of discount!! :smiling:
An early delivery from postie - 4 plinths from MDP - superfast service!
I was wondering on how to better mount busts on the plinths, rather than just a bare rod ( clothes hanger wire! ) - I looked at various things - then eureka - Dolls House Stair Rail spindles! ( ebay purchase ) Nicely turned fine grain wood - stained & varnished - maybe even Extreme Metal Brass! - I've got 12 to experiment with!

I really need to stop buying paints, the oil is going to try to get my Soviet emerald green aircraft interiors to better match the Eduard pre-painted etch.
(Also need to oil my kitchen worktops looking at this picture )
I've spent a lot of time on the 'net looking for 30's cars. I've been bidding on Airfix, Monogram, Matchbox on ebay - so far with only occasional luck.
Postie just dropped this off:
I think I made the Heller Bentley Blower last century, but I can't remember much about it! Heller models ( especially 1/.24 cars ) are not easy to come by - I couldn't find one French model shop with many in stock! Eventually I found this on ebay, as a 'buy it now' for under £17.5 delivered -and very fast too. Don't think I like the Yellow paint version - I'll have to do a bit of research .

Your collection of cars Dave must be growing daily !
A long story short, bought the He 219 from MBK for €180,95 delivered. 4 days later, an auction ran out in evilbay and I threw a bid down for €143,79 at the last 4 seconds (it stood at €92) and when the smoke cleared, I won it for €118 + 5,99 postage = €123,99. Sent my kit from MBK back for credit (refused delivery) and today the seller delivered! I'll be damned,
Upon going through the sprues, this popped out as a bonus,
The interior etch set in color. This sells for €23,95 itself. I felt like I had won the lottery as the whole shebang now was even cheaper!!!! Kit delivered for €100,04 and I can't stop dancing around the apartment. One last pic to show the details and thinking by Zoukei-Mura,
In the foam wrap is the included metal landing gear and to the left the pre-formed weight. It fits in the fuel tank below on the right. The fuel tank mounts right behind the cockpit so this puppy doesn't sit on it's butt. Man, I want to retire tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!.........
