My first kit from Dora Wings, I do like an 'interesting' slightly unusual subject and this world absolute speed record holder and first over a 1000mph British research aircraft fits the bill quite nicely!

I bought it direct from the manufacturer supporting our eastern European cousins who are keeping Putin at bay from his wicked empire building!
Dora wings are in Dnipro perilously close to the front line! The kit came carefully wrapped in clingfilm, I suppose to protect the kit box from moisture damage should the sturdy cardboard box it was snugly enclosed in should become wet?

Postage was quite expensive and took a while but Ukraine has more pressing concerns than posting stuff to the UK so I can forgive them that, I'm just grateful they take the time to produce unusual kits like this for us to play with!

I’ve long had a kind of fascination with the American 280 mm atomic cannon M65, and when I discovered that there’s been a 1:35 scale kit of it for about five years, I kind of wanted one … but it’s rather expensive, so I managed to contain myself. Last week, I looked at the site that Scalemates said had it for the cheapest, and found they were having an Easter sale, 10% off just about everything — that settled it I also added a figure for the M2 halftrack I’m currently building.

(FYI, those brown tiles in the picture are 5 cm square …)

While buying some wood paint for SWMBO's spring chore list, I filled up my IPA reserve (probably for life...:nerd with 2x 1 litre tins.

It’s three kits in one, really: gun, front truck, and rear truck. Those trucks alone are about 10 m long and 3 m wide IRL, so about 27 cm × 9 cm in 1:35 — that’s a bit longer and much wider than a 2.5-ton GMC truck … The kit comes across as quite high-quality, BTW. Not only does it includes two fairly big etched frets, but also pre-cut masks for the windows — and for both sides of each — while a number of sprues and separate parts are even wrapped in thin foam to protect them.

I couldn’t find that one, though, else it’s the one I would have bought instead :smiling3:
I remember Stan very well, and Bill Evans and myself were good friends in Newcastle, spent hours in the MM office at Hemel Hempstead and came away with the latest Tamiya kits to review after a good meal on the MM account.

Renwall used to produce it in 1/32 scale (dubious) along with the M41 and M52.... and all the figures like the early Monogram ones looked like the Alien had just burst from their stomach or shoulder blades.... Now that is giving my age away....

I looked at the instructions for that on Scalemates, and, well … no, thanks There’s also one in 1:72 scale from Dragon, but because the vast majority of my military vehicle models are in 1:35, I never bought that one.

And a few bits & bobs. Flow improver speaks for itself, we'll see if it helps. Blue stuff is to have a go at replicating parts, and a replacement paint.

I'm sure Mike scratchbuilder recommended this brand of saw somewhere. If it's good enough for him it'll more than do for me. I have a smaller JLC razor saw which is great, but I've found the limited cut size & depth problematic a few times

Somewhat of an unusual acquisition for me today:

A modelling friend came by with two boxes of Sherman spare parts and a box full of built models that he was trying to get rid of, but as most of them were painted they weren’t of too much interest to me so he took them back home again. This one, a Dragon M4, I can do something with, though — some corrections and it will paint up very nicely as probably either an early US Army tank, or a British one in the desert. Or, if I can’t get the additional armour off, as a refurbished tank in the later stages of the war.
