I have a devil of a time with tweezers so thought I'd treat myself to a decent set, to see if it helped. So far, so good. They come together at the very tip first so even with my tendancy to grip on for dear life (I know I shouldn't) they don't seem to splay out and send parts into orbit

I bought some decent tweezers a few years ago. They seemed silly expensive at the time but have saved me a lot of crawling about looking for pinged parts. i am sure you'll feel the same.

A mate suggested I try a couple of 1/56 Rubicon kits and bought this last week. It came with so many options that you could nearly build 2 kits from the one box!
You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.

Although I re-painted them, they would easily stand alone. Plenty in each box. Can be seen here: https://www.scalemodelling.co.uk/for...jack-s-bag-end

A bit of both scottie, the nettles and thistles are PE and single pieces than bent from a flat piece, the roses and mullein (no idea what they actually are) are paper and a little fiddly as the leaves, stalks and flowers are all separate. but they turn out very nicely

Went into the local model shop to get a couple of jars of paint, and came out with a new model!
I'm sure they do some sort of Jedi mind trick on you...(Spoken in Alec Guinness's voice) - " These are the models you are looking for".

Anyway I now have this for the shelf....

They had a couple of other figures, a US infantry man, and another, can't quite remember which? but I had an Uncle who did some parachute jumps in WW2, not sure where or if he was an actual paratrooper, but this particular model just spoke to me, so I had to get it.
Having done a few very small 1:72 tanks I'm now getting used to the tiny parts and fiddly painting, so I'm looking forward to building this one at some point. Bit scary though as I've never done a figure before, and getting the face "right" seems a bit of a challenge, but hey, we'll give it a go.

A special one that definitely deserves a mention. Huge thanks to scottie3158 who has sent these to me free of charge and wouldn't even let me pay for postage. Funds are tight at the moment so this amazing gesture will allow me to try my hand at something completely new. And Verlinden work doesn't come cheap at the best of times. Thank you Paul! Your kind gesture means more than you know.

          Some small bits...
I'm always using Micro-Sol, so will try out Mr Mark Softer as I think it's a bit stronger?

Also got some Abt.502 oil paints, but the middle one is actually an acrylic(!) didn't know they had an acrylic range so will have to look better next time. Cheers

            So some more essentials.....

Having bent my 0.2mm needle slightly, I needed a new one and so I thought I might as well get two given how fragile they are....saves on a second lot of P&P when the inevitable happens!

The white thing in the bag is actually a resin replacement to correct an error in the Airfix Sea Fury kit I recently acquired, which apparently leads to a misshapen nose if you're not careful, not to mention some incorrect detail.

It's not something I would normally worry about but I was aware of the issue after a couple of people at shows put me onto the issue, one of whom used this very part. As I got the kit so cheap I thought why not get the AM correction! In case you're interested the part is made by Aerocraft Models, Product Code ACM48003.

            ATB

            Andrew

The AM part in situ, with a wash to highlight the detail....

New brushesโ€ฆโ€ฆthese are the best there are for painting figures, at least, in my opinion. Hereโ€™s whyโ€ฆ
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_2524.jpg Views:	0 Size:	332.2 KB ID:	1240562

Look at those tipsโ€ฆ..needle sharp. They have great spring and snap as well. As to longevity, here are these two alongside an old one (at the bottom) of three and a half years old.

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_2525.jpg Views:	0 Size:	222.4 KB ID:	1240563
The sharp point has worn off, but the old brush is still more than useable for anything but the finest work. This brush has done at least a thousand painting sessions. It is over three and a half years old.
They are different sizes just in case you are wonderingโ€ฆ... Top is a size two, middle is a size O, and the old one is a size 1. I would have bought two new size 1 brushes, because they are the best compromise for my figure work, but they seem to be out of stock everywhereโ€ฆ.

Almost nothing you canโ€™t do with a size 1 from these guys is there Andyโ€ฆ..I use good size 1s for eyeballs on the little blokesโ€ฆfunnily enough, got a size OO and donโ€™t get on with it. Doesnโ€™t hold enough paintโ€ฆ.

Latest wallet reduction device to appear at my door....
Seem lots of peeps use these, so thought I'd get one.
Tamiya paint stand with clips, etc.
I know its mainly designed for air brushing, which I am not yet doing, but will be useful for brush painting also.

Little delivery just turned up, my first batch of oil paints courtesy of SMS.
Also brought a nice "dry" brush from my own local model shop.

Some more ancillary bits and bobs from our very own SMS, thanx...
Some Tamiya masking sheets with grids.
                    More pipettes
                    Some small flexi files.
Up to now I have been using the small individual paint palette tins, so thought I'd get a larger one for mixing etc.

I do like a Coastal Command scheme ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I saw one of these for sale at Telford last weekend which I thought about getting then completely forgot about it until I had gotten home ๐Ÿ˜‚
Fortunately I saw one on eBay though which turned out cheaper than the one I had originally seen ๐Ÿ˜Š
