So i was wandering around my local Dobbies garden centre (looking for some spring flowering bulbs to put in soon) and as i meandered thro the odds and ends gifty section bit i chanced on a display of wooden kits!!!!!!

I really liked the foot high owl shaped pendulum clock but i didnt want to pay the price.....but they had a selection of things for a tenner......merry go round or drum kit or hot air balloon ......i settled for a fokker dreidecker

    Its actually quite big.....210mm long by 178mm wing span......145 parts.....for a tenner!

Time for something very different; this is actually a birthday present for my brother:

The kit has everything needed - including putty for the sea and a glass bottle, along with a jig to help with the rigging. This is a real bottle - no cheating the ship has to be rigged then the masts folded to get it into the bottle and then the masts raised.

the twist to this is that I have bought the. Cutty sark version for myself and plan to set my brother the challenge of finishing in time for a showdown on Christmas day! Should be a fun challenge.

The missus has just bought this lamp from Lidl for her sewing. Daylight and only £12.99. Seems far better than the price would suggest. Worth a look if you're after a lamp for your modelling.

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_7939.jpg Views:	0 Size:	324.4 KB ID:	1235350 Well here is my latest purchase. My Formula One wheelchair (as a mate called it). it speeds along at a whole 8mph, it raises me almost to standing height and can carry me for about 15 miles. It’s actually a Permobile M3 with all the necessary ‘add ons’ so it cost a small fortune but it’s worth it…

it means I can largely live normally and independently and that includes accessing almost everything in the modelling room. I will need a spot of help putting or removing models from my highest shelf, but that’s it….

Wow Barry, an F1 Ferrari... in black livery. 8mph along the corridor is mighty fast. My youngest sister has one of these wheelies...not the same brand and is changing to a supped up version. I can hear you go wheeeeee down the corridor.

That looks the business Barry. It's like everything else in life, if you want it and can afford it then buy it. In your situation it makes a huge difference to how you live your life.

OK chaps.........so more absolutely essential purchases.

          ATB

          Andrew

          ----------------------------------------------------------------

          Some essential basics....plus masks
The tape and camo masks were free, thanks to some points I had with the website in question......and of course all my recent wingy purchases need canopy masks!!

This is another Christmas present from my daughter but all in a VERY good cause!!

The Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group (hawkertyphoon.com), are looking to get a WW2 Typhoon back in the air - there isn't one - and they are now official Airfix affiliates. Therefore, 10% of all purchases made via the Group's Airfix Affiliate link goes to the charity. I have several of these kits in the stash already but this version is actually done using the markings of the one that will one day hopefully fly......so it would have been rude not too.

This one is entirely the fault of someone I know....and he knows why!!

Found this on eBay after his recommendation and whilst watching it, the seller knocked 10% off....forcing me to buy it for less than £22 delivered! Happy was I!!

          I didn't have a P-47 Razorback!!

Whilst I had a bubbletop version, I didn't have a 'razorback' version....truly shocking I know! 2nd hand eBay purchase for a good price.

I really am very, very pleased about this purchase.

I was at the Abingdon show yesterday (pics to follow) and someone at one of the club tables was selling off a few kits and this caught my eye. These normally got for c. £30, albeit some go for a bit cheaper on eBay if you're lucky. In my case he only wanted £20.

As you can see it's the 'export' version of the kit, so it's non-RAF markings only....one of which is Dutch....as is my wife!

They also had a Ta 152 by Revell which would have been applicable and i liked the boxart but i looked it up on scalemates.......moulds were originally Frogs in 1970 and a review said 'is this Revells worst kit ever?'..........so that went back on the shelf sharpish ??

I picked up mine for the group build Paul. I managed to find one in 1/48 scale. I made a FW in 1/72 before so I wanted to try one in 1/48.

Darn, I got the same one : D, might pick something older from the stash, guess it doesn't really matter if people build the same kits? Or is that against the GB rules? Cheers

It wont be a problem Steve. The GB on this occasion is restricted to FW190's so I think its inevitable that there will be duplication. Also there are 4 different colour schemes to go at, We will have a chat nearer the time and Ill make sure I do a different scheme than yours.
