My name is Andrew and I LOVE a bargain!!

Ok, so the work problems have not stopped me acquiring some new goodies. A 'few' of which are as a direct result of me getting the new job, which I though deserved a treat! These have all arrived in the past couple of weeks.

      Andrew

      --------------------------------------------------

First up these, mostly for my newly acquired wargaming kits, plus a couple of bases for display purposes....direct from the manufacturer who on their eBay account intriguingly had 'make an offer' available.

So I stuck in cheeky offer at 15% off sale price on 7 items, which were accepted. Nice!

However, because they sent the order in two parts, I have only just discovered though that they sent me 2 additional items I never ordered....and for nothing....so the full discount worked out at 32%!!

Next up this.....saw it on eBay but wasn't in the market for it and thought it looked like a good price, so did some research.

Turns out it was 10% cheaper than any other new Border Pz IV I could find and 15% than cheaper than the next cheapest listing of the same kit. It now means I have one 1/35 kit of most major mid-late war tanks.

So last Sunday I was at the de Havilland museum model show....and of course had found out about the new job by then, so I thought I would treat myself.

      - The Airfix Club kit often goes for upwards of £20 or more on eBay, plus it was on sale for the charity that has the only flying Blenheim in the world, so it went to a good cause.

      - The others were all at least 10% cheaper than I could find online and more if you include my saving on P&P.

      - The Stuka is a re-pop of the old Fujimi kit, which is apparently very good even by modern standards - and it comes with a canopy mask....and for less than £13.

      - Fore Hobby are new company and the Scimitar is apparently a very good kit according to both online reviews and a recommendation from someone at the show....and it includes a small bit of sensible PE plus a metal barrel.

      - Oh and the books were free from one of my club members....I have both F4Fs and a Phantom in the stash.

Finally, I have been put onto a Facebook second hand kit auction site by a fellow club member.......not a good idea!!

It's a completely lottery as to what kits turn up and how they are bundled but you can get some very good prices, and much cheaper than eBay if you're sensible.

My first success was these two bought as a pair....the JP is 2005ish vintage with metal hull but still a nice kit by all accounts. The Nashorn is much newer....c.2021 IIRC. Both are still available to buy new and so it was easy to compare prices.

As it turns out buying new would have been a daft decision as these two were 40% cheaper than new and in very good condition!!!

I won these two on auction only last weekend and so were another treat for having got my new job.

I was only really after the 17cm Kanone but they came as bundle. The AFV kit is still available but the Kanone is long out of production and very had to find and is not cheap - £20 delivered was the cheapest I could find - and that was an eBay auction win.

I paid £25 for the pair - 45% cheaper than I could have possibly bought them for elsewhere. So if I decide not to keep the AA kit, I will make quite a bit back through any likely sale.

I'm sure I've said that recently......I really am.......

Anyway as most of you probably know my now, today was Modelkraft 2024, here in MK. I was reasonably restrained but did pick up a couple of bargains from the same seller.

The FW 190 was only £7. Whilst the odd eBay auction does go for a smidge less than this or around what I paid, you're generally looking at prices approaching £10....so it would have been rude not to!!! :smiling5:

I have looked occasionally at this set in the past, as it compliments the British bombers in my Hunter's and Hunted collection. However, I have always been put off the price - generally speaking mid-high £20s. They had this for only £20 and even eBay has only one sale below that! I have to say, I am though very impressed with just how much you get in the kit - four (apparently) good quality vehicles, a large oil trailer and a whole host of other stuff.

Oh....and somehow I completely forgot that this arrived about 10 days ago.....I had not taken a picture at the time, hence forgetting about it.

This is a brand new and upgraded reissue of a 2010 kit (including a 3d printed parts). Despite its age, it is still the best (if only?) 1/72 Whirlwind out there.

Thanks to a combination of VERY competitive pricing by John, the forum discount and some loyalty points, I effectively got it P&P free. The 2010 kits were going for at least double what I have just paid, the last time I looked.

As always great service from John and his staff.....when I found out it was being released I messaged him to see if he was stocking and if so when....he replied very promptly and kept me up to date too!! Thanks John!

Not really into Jets, but this is one of my favourite aircraft EVER,kits of 'em are quite hard to come by in 1/48,so after seeing this in an email from Jadlam,I snapped it up.Apparently, it's not the greatest kit ever, but eminently doable....and better than the Kitty one :thumb2:.
..... as an aside,I opened the box to have a gander at the contents, and,to my surprise, this had been popped inside...

              Birthday Haul part #1.

Birthday haul part #2 will commence when I cash the cheques I was given - I'm thinking of getting myself a Tamiya Dragon Wagon and maybe a Stuart.

Be sure to get the new(ish) Tamiya Stuart, in that case, not the one from almost fifty years ago Or the brand-new MiniArt one, which will be more involved but looks like it’s an excellent kit.

Found this at a large flea market for half its market price (but without decal and instruction sheets) among a large number of Tamiya FW 190 (A and D) 1/48 kits.
Sprues are still in their sealed bags. Wife insisted I had to get at least one of those kits and I went for the more peculiar one. :blow-kiss-2:
                    Instructions already downloaded.
I'm tempted by some Eduard's add-ons... shall I resist? :rolling:

Luckily for me, missus Miko is a graphic artist with access to a great laser printer! Unluckily for me is getting her willing to print stuff for me, I'm expecting to be busy around the house in the near future, although I'm off to a good start, I bought her some chocolate, it's her kryptonite, makes her vulnerable to my charms! Ha!

Miko (the 'catnip' analogy would also work here for the original crazy cat lady, missus Miko)
