    Hello, from an absolute newbie

Hello. This is Carlos, from Spain.
I'm 50 and I've never tried modelling before. I need all the advise you can provide.

I've recently have changed my job and currently I spend most of my day working with a computer. I feel the need for a manual task. Scale modelling seems to be almost perfect for me, but I suffer from strabism and my 3D vision is not perfect.

I haven't any materials or tools, but a cutter and some pliers. So, to start with, I've thought of this kit:

It comes with 3 paint colors, a double paintbrush and glue.

It seems to be perfect for me to try the hobby and to try myself. On the other hand, the model seems to need 8 colors to be accomplished perfectly, and I haven't got any airbrush for good fishing. I don't know if this limitations may turn out into a frustrating first experience. I don't want to spend more money by now buying tools and colors that I don't know if I'll go on using.

Any advise is more than welcome.

    Thanks.

    Welcome Carlos,
I would give the kit a try without buying too many extra paints and tools,
if the model turns out well you can always buy the extra paints and finish it as it's supposed to be.
Take your time and perhaps watch some Youtube videos before starting.
    cheers

Hi, fairly new back to the hobby myself.
As above just give it a try and see how it goes. You will soon know if the hobby is for you or not and if you enjoy it or not.
Just build the kit and use the paints you have.
As stated above you can always buy more paints, etc if you decide you like the hobby.
You don't need an airbrush, I only use brushes to paint, as do some others.
Small tins/jars/bottles of paint for modelling are quite cheap (in the UK, eg: only a couple of pounds), so I assume they would be relatively cheap in Spain too?
Also you don't need many tools to start off with, something to cut the parts off the sprue/frame, eg: a sharp craft knife, or cutters, maybe some tweezers or thin needle pliers, etc, a paintbrush and some adhesive, thats it really.
Let us know how you get on, maybe some photos of the kit would be good too.
          Cheers

Tnank you all for your welcome and your advise.

I'll start working in the kit within a fortnight. I'll open a thread when I'll do to show you my progress and probably asking some more newbie questions. In fact, I'm thinking of making a Youtube video to share my experience just in case it's helpful for other rookies.

            You'll have news.

Welcome to the forum and the hobby. Just keep things simple to start with and if you like the hobby you can add to your tools etc over time. And remember that sometimes the best modelling tools can be found cheaply around the house and pound shops. You can purchase more expensive items as you progress. But the most important thing is have fun.

                        Hi Carlos and welcome.
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.
