Time to get back on the horse...

    Hello everyone!

Some might remember me from the “old” site. I washed up on Ghosty’s forum after the diaspora, which is a jolly nice place, for the 4 folk that visit it (sadly). I found my builds were stagnating for lack of interaction- a bit like posting your art in the Rotherham Advertiser

Not that I haven’t still been fiddling about on my bench, of course! The Airfix Warrior was a taxing build, especially as I elected to try and build my own slat armour for it:

I also coverted a Skif MT LMB6 into an Iraqi AA platform with a lot of scratch building and bit of a kit bash with a Meng ZU-23:

These are a couple I actually finished, anyway! Got a few WIPs: MiniArt T44, TML Leo 2 Revolution (in a rather natty digital camo), and currently working on a Meng Merkava IIID:

That ball & chain armour was a proper labour of tears and swearing!

In other news, the band I play bass for released their debut album, I celebrated my half-century, and we are down to only 1 cat, as the Chief Designer caught the wrong end of a car a little over a year ago. The CD’s Vice Deputy Sub Assistant has stepped up to be Queen Bee, and the house trembles under her mighty paw:

So- looking forward to re-connecting with some old moggling chums, and sharing the banter of the brotherhood of styrene! I’m going to have a good old mooch around your builds and start compiling a thread or two of mine own.

    Toodles,

    Bones☠️

Your slat armour on the Warrior looks good. How did you make it?

Hi Peter- I used thin strips of 0.5mm plastic card, and made myself an assembly jig comprising of brass rods drilled into a bit of flat wood to align the slats properly. I have to admit to cheating on the turret and bow slats by merely thinning the kit parts. That took so long, and was so fiddly, it seemed easier to make my own really!

A welcome blast from the past. Glad to see you here. AA conversion dio is awesome. Still tooling around quickly in your Alpha? They're really hyping them here in the states, especially the go-fast models. PaulE
