    Following my Grandads footsteps...

    Hi all!

I thought I would join up with the forum with the hope that I could read through them and pick up on a wealth of knowledge. Having a quick scan though now I can see I'm going to have lots of techniques to learn!
My Grandad used to make scale models when I was a young boy. I always remember walking into the back room and seeing wooden book shelf's full of models he had made through the years. His weakness was tanks, but he built all sorts.

One of the reasons I am here is because when he passed away almost 2 years ago I inherited a Scale model he had never touched (This was quite often the case, especially when his eyesight started to go and he didn't have the steady hand he once did) The model is an Revell Apollo SATURN V 1/96 scale.

I would love to get this model built and standing proud however it's too advance for what I can do or manage at the moment. I'm not sure when he purchased it, but from what my family have said they can't remember a time it wasn't sitting in the corner of the room gathering dust. I have bought a cheap £9.99 Messerschmitt from Revell just to get my hand in and see how I get on.

I've attached a picture of the box so you can all see what I am talking about

Hopefully talk to you all soon

                Welcome Adam,
good idea, to try a smaller model, before moving onto a biggie! Larger models have a set of problems of their own - mainly due to the sheer large areas you have to paint....................
                Dave.
