It’s not Slang.
HMS Gannet, known as ‘the Gannet’ to the folk of Ayrshire. Situated at the North side of Prestwick airport, home to 819 Naval Air Squadron and now, albeit HMS Gannet is no more, the site is now home to HMCG SAR flight.
