    Other types of model making....

When I was a kid I loved Meccano and Lego and Airfix. Spending many hours submersed in my own little World, merrily building away....

Then I grew up, and other things took priority, eg: girls, mates, work, the Wife, etc. Life got in the way, and I stopped model making for many years, and indulged in some other hobbies along the way, Golf, Squash, Cycling, Motorbikes, Fishing, etc.

Then about 15 years ago my Wife bought me a big Lego set, one of the Creator Expert sets, and thus I started down the Lego building hobby again.
I also bought myself some Meccano at that time, but for reasons I'm not quite sure about, I did not really get back into that as much as the Lego?

I also dabbled with a few other types of models, eg: a large Haynes V8 plastic (and fully working)engine with all the workings of the engine in a see through outer case, moving valves, pistons, lights for the spark plugs, moving belts, etc, it great for teaching how an engine works.

Then I saw a "Paper" model of a working gun M16 type MG, it actually fired paper pellets and ejected the cartridge once fired!
Then, I got back into "proper" model making, eg: Scale model plastic kits and off I went again, down that Rabbit hole..... Lol

So my story is that I will have a go at making any model, not just plastic scale model kits.
Here's some pics of some of the model kits I've made, see below....

What other types of models have you made?

Have to say of all the Lego builds I did the LR Defender was one of my faves, it was quite large, had four wheel drive and even two gears (Hi/Lo), suspension, etc, all fully working.
Also the JB 007 Aston was pretty cool, revolving plates, retracting machine guns, lifting rear bulletproof screen and of course, the famous ejector seat.
They are certainly great kits.... even had secret phone in the door panel! Lol.....I used to build them, display them for maybe six months, then sell them, and you would almost get your money back, especially if they were the hard to find sets.

I got dragged into the Lego world a few years ago. I'd buy job lots on ebay then buy any missing parts needed to complete the sets. 500+ sets and about £8000 later I lost interest! Wanna buy some Lego?
