While cleaning the Barn up yesterday I found these. This was one of my old Jerseys Halter and Ear Tag that I removed after she passed away so I hung them up in the Barn. She was 14 years old. I had her for 12 years she was like a pet very gentle and loving l miss her still today she was like part of the family. Here’s a few pics of her and her calf.

          Hi Lee
You mention ice cream. We were on holiday many years ago when the children were young. We went to a place called "The Ice Cream Farm". They sold ice cream made from the milk/cream from their own herd of Jerseys. The children still remember it 30+ years later.

The fire looks really good, I'm sitting here with my open fire going, they just feel nice to sit in front of on a cold night. Better still when the wood is free!

Coming on nicely Lee. Would love to have a fire/wood burner but the previous owners largely bricked up the fireplace, so it will be an expensive job to get it fixed.

Glad to hear your slowly on the mend too after your Covid scare.

                  ATB.

                  Andrew

Brought down the last of the Fire Wood I cut down last December yesterday. Next going to split it up and put it away. The Winter Wheat field is starting to Green up now.

                        Looking great.
My father had jersey cattle when I was born, apparently they were really gentle and he'd put me as a toddler on their backs so that I'd ride them (can't remember!) He kept goats up to his death - 20+ milkers and all milked by hand twice a day.

Gerry sorry for the late reply. When my oldest Daughter was little I did the same thing give her rides on Half Pints back.

First snow of the year on the Hobby Farm we got about a inch very cold too the high was 18 degrees today. The Winter Wheat is peeking through the snow still doing good.

Question,......what is the end game for the winter wheat, will it be fodder or do you intend to use it for human consumption?

I’m trying to make my field better and it’s a cover crop for the winter. In the spring I will mow it down hoping it has choked out the bad grasses I’ve did this before with great results here a pic of my barn lot after I did this method but it doesn’t always work Click image for larger version
