Certainly the case around here. I would say the farmers are about a month behind putting the cows out and cropping the hay meadows.

Yes I’ve been very careful letting the Sheep eat the Green Grass because it’s so lush they could Bloat and die. I feed very dry hay to them every day for some roughage and offer them Sheep mineral and baking soda to help digest.

Must admit I love watching them when they go out for the first time though. They run around kicking their heels and simply enjoy being out. Not many sheep around here, mostly cattle. Just as well really, we back on to a field and if it was filled with sheep it would sound too much like an all day sitting of the Houses of Parliament for my tastes…..cows are much quieter. Except for the one that does uncannily lifelike donkey impressions :tongue-out3:

My Sheep do the same thing every day when I let them out to the bigger Paddock. They are noisy but take away a Calf from her mom and you have noise 24 hrs. My wife’s cousin was weaning some Calf’s this early spring he felt so bad about the noise he put on Facebook apologizing about the noise lol. He lives about 1/4 mile away I could here them all night but it was music to my ears.

This morning I put a Mineral feeder on the Stall divider and cleaned the Stalls out. I use Baking Soda and Sheep Mineral in their diet. The Baking Soda helps with their digestion Sheep Mineral has Salt and other Minerals that they need. Probably going to introduce Sulfur to their diet to help with the Flys and Ticks soon. The other day took some pics of the Sheep and the Baby Chicks. Both are really growing.

After they eat this down I’ll move them to random places around the farm before the frost hits. If you look in the background in the field you can see a Doe Deer.

Lovely to see the sheep making the most of the grass before winter.

Yes Jim me too. We had a small drought then got some rain and everything greened up again. I have that hay field to cut yet and I need to buy 15 more square bales of hay and I’ll set for the winter. I mixed my Sheep feed today that should get me to mid April. Feels good to have the Grain cans filled with feed for the Sheep,Chickens, and Rabbits and it’s not even Fall time yet.

JR yes they have grown. Buck really has but he’s still gentle. Been working on my Barb wire fence as well this weekend. Since the grass is about gone this week I think I’ll open Paddock 3 so they can just eat off of both 2-3 Paddocks combined. Next thing to do is finish Paddock 4 this where they will stay the winter. The Paddock is close to the barn but still has room for them to get plenty of exercise.

I sure could use a couple of them there self propelled lawn-mowers, Our grass needs cutting twice a week! Warm and rainy, everything goes mental mostly the weeds. our sweet corn got flattened by a windstorm. slugs have had more of the veggies than we have! Potatoes though. They went totally mental.
Hope things are a bit more forgiving there where you are.

My tomatoes Lee have been a waste of time, plagued by white fly. Started on a pelargonium and although I had to spray they are still in abundance.

For some reason, we can't grow tomatoes past the flowering stage. The plants are strong and flower really well and then seem to stall. Small fruit that never rippen.

                        I didn't bother this year.

Where are you attempting to grow, out side or under glass ?

I've got a small greenhouse and have tried them in that but I've tried growbags in a sheltered but sunny spot with the same results

                            I've tried different varieties too.

This week I’ve had the Sheep for 1 year now and their doing well survived the winter very good. Hope to get them out on their first Paddock next week. Enjoy the pics.
