About a month ago my wife bought home for me some baby chicks. There getting bigger now so I decided re build my old chicken house to these in. It’s part of my little Barn. I’ve let it go so many years but now I’m trying to get it back into shape.

That's awesome Lee. There's just something about living outside the city limits that appeals to me also. I love the fact that theres all kinds of wild life right outside my front door. One of the reasons I don't keep livestock.....They are all on the "critter menu"! Rick H.

Loving your update Lee. Some nice chicks there too. Are those chikcs for eggs or meat? Or both?

I've been busy in the garden with my week off. Just extended my veggie raised bed. Took a load of time as the ground was/is really stoney so i had to sieve/griddle the mud i removed. Still got a load of mud to add (when i 'borrow' it from the farm). But i got my beetroot, radish, runner bean and carrots planted. So i'm well chuffed

Really envious of your smallholding Lee. I'm trying to save for some land but it costs about £7k an acre. And that's if you can find some near to the house to buy. Most farmers just sell to housing developers

Nothing like a fresh vine ripened tomato.........when I was a kid I'd sneak the salt shaker off the dining room table at my grandparents house and head out to the garden and eat fresh tomatoes. Just a little salt brought out the sweetness. Rick H.

                                Hi Lee
Really good to see chickens living the life they should. The poor creatures must be about the most abused on the planet. We kept chicken when we lived in Scotland and they are great fun and kept us and the neighbours in eggs.
You can't beat fresh veg from the garden :thumb2:
