Our frosts are the same Lee. So i cover my seed drills with mini cloches made out of old coke/vimto/dr pepper bottles cut length ways. These still let the water get to the seeds but more importantly, keep the air frosts off the young seedlings. So this year i've had a bumper cropof radishes. My beetroot are coming on just as well too.

Hi Lee, My mom did the same as you and your wife.........she went to the old homestead in northern Minnesota and dug up Iris bulbs from her mom's old place on Swan Lake. Trucked 'em all the way back to Salem Oregon and planted them outside her bedroom window so she could look out and see them when they were blooming. The things we do to remember our fore-bearers is remarkable, but a good lesson in family values for us when we were growing up.Comment

It hasn't been all bad Lee. I spent a little time at my "Loading Bench" and managed to put up 400 rounds of .22 cal. K- Hornet ammunition for my favorite varmint rifle. Just not in the modeling mood presently. Been dabbling with a German field hospital in a burned out building. Still waiting on most of the figs. as I need nurses and Drs. to staff it. Looking forward to your 1/25th scale tractor /trailer rigs.
