      Hi James
You are doing an excellent job on this. Just imagine your feelings of satisfaction and achievement when you sit at the bench for the first time. You have some favourite music playing, a beer/coffee/tea/coke (delete as appropriate) by your side and you open your latest kit :tongue-out3:

        Thanks Jim,

All this work is being done really to avoid dogging the trench between the house and shed for new power supply.
Reached the point where I can't put it off anymore as there's nothing else I haven't done.

But yes I do feel pretty chuffed with how I've bodged it together so far.

Nice. You must have put a beefy supply in that trench.

It must be 10 years since I put mine in and ran 4mm SWA as it was plenty for what I needed at the time. I'm considering upgrading now that I use more juice out there.

I have 10mm2 twin and earth through house and then 10mm2 SWA for the trench. Run off a 50A RCBO.

Put a domestic consumer unit in the shed so lights are split left and right off 6A RCBOs, 2 ring mains off 2 32A RCBOs and then the 32A socket off a 40A RCBO. Leaves me a spare 16A which I dont know what to do with.

Keep it spare until you need it.
Factory I've been testing lately has an issue with the welders bringing in 13A extension gangs and wiring them to a 16A plug, not an issue if there's a fuse on the gang, but most didn't so had to be pulled out. Like so much it only got highlighted after a fire........
(I also found an extra circuit that had been wired into a consumer unit by a few welders so they could have a kettle and microwave in their bay....they would of get away with it if they had used proper boxes instead of a trailing tail.)

Sounds plenty to run a beer fridge

Yes fully agree 570, bu**er this new fangled electric , I find the old 6" nail works as a fuse better than any of these new ones.

So hopefully 2 weeks AGW and I shall be back to continue shed improvements.

Hopefully get the cable run as soon as I'm back which will mean I can get rid of the extension cable which I think has almost burried itself in the grass now from pics I've seen.

I am pondering getting a solar kit to go on the roof and a battery system as a top up. Does anyone have experience of this?

Plenty of vids on YT covering it.
