Apparently they're more goose than duck. Which would explain it.

Had another chance to see Red Kites at close range as we are looking after a house in Marlow Bucks.
Perching in next doors tree, before launching !

Nice pic Steve. Last week my daughter and I seen a Coopers Hawk chasing a dove it was way too late to go for my phone one of the neatest wildlife moments I’ve seen.

At the risk of being boring! This is my latest Red Kite shot .... Again in Marlow Bucks, quite pleased considering it was with a compact camera through a double glaze window :tears-of-joy:

The low sunlight really lights up the under side of the wings and show the colours pretty well ....

This will be my last Kite shot, I promise!

Never get bored with Kite shots Steve, fantastic birds that were just not seen even a few years ago. One of the great reintroduction successes.

Well, despite it being the warmest day here for at least a couple of weeks, we also had some geese flying in a SW direction this morning. Not sure how far South they're headed or whether it's just to a large reservoir about 5 miles away. They were certainly making plenty of noise!
