I can just about tolerate them nowadays, as a kid I had a big one crawl out my pillowcase when I was in bed and just happen to open my eyes and it was about an two inches from my face,I was actually looking in his eyes! At that distance it was ten feet across! Didn't sleep in my bed for a week!

My only fear is having them crawl into my ear when I'm napping. Otherwise they're fine. As kids I used to watch spider fights and the proud owners showing off their spiders from matchboxes stuffed with leaves. They look like tiny black terantulas with emerald green markings. Went on a catching spree once along ditches with large yam leaves covered with creeping vegetation...how we never got bitten by snakes is a miracle.
Only intrusion in the house are Daddy Long Legs. If they accidentally run along your face you'll suffer from swelling on the lips or eyelids. We'll know if an insect is in the house cos we'll have to hold down all valuable breakable items in the house for fear of the cats crashing into them. Flies don't stand a chance with them...you can actually hear the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon theme music playing when they stalk a fly.

      Cheers,
      Richard

Oh dear when there is a massive fly problem you'll regret not having spiders, and who is going to spin those wheel spokes, just think about that ! :nerd:

Well John, on this site you are known as both “Percy Thrower“ and his younger brother “Flame Thrower”, so I’d say you’ve got both bases covered!

Mr Race, whatever floats your boat mate, my gardening skills extend to mowing the front lawn (old Percy would be spinning in his grave :tears-of-joy: ), the back is small and a slab patio... that's my kind of garden! Swmbo is the horticulturist in our house (9 times out of 10, I can't tell if it's weed or flower?), and the sun worshipper!
I just deal with unwanted insects and other bugs once my bit is done! :rolling:

Me, I'm just the mover and potterer...SWMBO just has to say "I'd like this here and that there" or " This needs repotting" and I go "Yes Mem Sahib". I stop at watering the plants but with the little I do I get to snip stuff for my dios as long as I don't kill the plant. SWMBO is a real killer with Millibugs and Aphids. Anything larger then I do the execution or relocation.

                        Cheers,
                        Richard

We went for a walk today, swmbo notice a bug attacking the heel of my trainer so she stood on it... it looked like it pixilated, all I heard was 'did you see that!' So now the immobile 8 legged arachnid carrier has released a massive break out of miniature arachnids! A few profanities followed from my beloveds lips, less to say we quickly moved on!

The gardening is a source of goodnatured conflict as SWMBO likes things "just so" while I like them more natural.

Ooh...no...SWMBO needs symmetry, balance, composition and as you know plants grow so there is the never ending of shifting.:smiling6: We have a concrete covered garden (saves on mowing the lawn) but the many think we don't looking in from the outside.

                                Cheers,
