    Well this is embarrassing ?

The build has been progressing nicely, after painting the cockpit parts with added a dark wash to enhance the details.

ID:	1246770 I also highlighted a few of the swithes(sorry about the up pic, my phone doesn’t really like close ups ?)

Once I was happy with the results it was time to button it all up and add the wings which I had also sorted out.

ID:	1246771 There is a bit of a gap at the wing roots but nothing that can’t be solved.

ID:	1246772 Underside fit was good, then I realised my rather massive mistake, can you spot it?

I completely forgot to drill out the necessary holes underneath to enable the glide bomb to be attached ?.

There is no way I would be able to get the holes close enough to be accurate. I may have thrown the towel in at this stage but didn’t want to pull out of the GB as it’s such a special one so decided to get a similar model and start from scratch.

I managed to pick this up second hand from Kingkit which is the same base model with the marking guide for the holes visible in the wing so here we go again ?.

A few shots of the frames.

So first thing to do this time I decided was drill out the required holes.

Glad you found a 2nd kit to measure the holes, sometimes a strong lightsource can reveil hidden holes, depending on the tickness of the plastic. Have fun, cheers

Thanks Steven, unfortunately it was too thick to see them.
Sorted now though so onwards and upwards ?

Goodness me Geoff, been there myself in the past. I use a phone torch on maximum intensity to see the thinner plastic where the holes should be. Looks like you've got it sorted though, and you have a plain FW190 as a second build ?

I did try using a light trick Joe but wasn’t able to see the holes clearly ?

I’m going to concentrate on the Hagelkorn one first then when they’re both pretty equal in progress build the other one as a straight forward fighter.

Seems a shame to waste it ?

        Geoff.

          Quick update chaps ?

The second “Butcher Bird” has progressed pretty painlessly, I remembered to drill the appropriate holes this time ?.

I didn’t do too much with the cockpit on the 2nd model. Unfortunately as you may see, next to nothing can be seen anyway.

They both look very good Geoff. Like you, when I do another 1/72 FW190 in the future I don't think I'll bother with much cockpit detail. Even that lovely deck behind the pilot seat gets covered by the canopy frame.

Yes it’s a shame but it’s not alone in this respect. The Typhoon I recently built was similar with nothing much in the cockpit visible once it was buttoned up. One of the drawbacks of 1/72 modelling I suppose ?

ID:	1248234 Then I’ll be masking and fitting the cockpit canopies before priming.
Everything else has been cleaned up and is ready to go.

I had to cut the gun barrels off one of them to clean up the wing seams but will replace them with hypodermic syringe needles, I may do that with the other one too.

A bit more needed with this one, upper camo colours then the dreaded mottling. I’ve never tackled mottling before so that should be fun ?
