More progress made. The bulk of the painting is now complete. Just on with masking and painting the rudder and lower engine cowling yellow then it will be varnish and decals. Don't know what I think of my mottling on the fuzz, I ended up making a template as my attempt at spraying them on didn't go too well. I am hoping that decals will cover most of them up anyway so I am going to get the decals on before I make any further corrections to the mottling. Here are some pictures of my masking and painting process
Thats it for now. Thanks for checking in.

Looking good Steve. Your mottle looks okay to me, and as you say, the decals will either hide or blend much of it anyway.Comment

So I made some progress with the decals today. In preparation I applied some gloss varnish over the matt camo. Not sure why but I had to give it 3 coats because the first 2 just seemed to get sucked into the paintwork like a sponge. Anyway the 3rd coat gave me a surface that I felt confident with to apply the decals. No dramas at all. The decals went on really well. The front red wrap around decal came in three parts. The top part had 7 red triangles on a single decal with a further 2 decals with 2 triangles that go underneath the engine cowling. To avoid any disasters I decide to cut the top decal into 3 parts and not attempt to fit it as a single decal.. I laid a single triangle onto the cowling at top dead centre and then added the other parts that now contained 3 triangles onto the sides of the cowling making sure they fitted flush. I am going to let these all set now with micro sol/set before applying the remaining triangle decals to the underside of the cowling. I have also added my own swastika decals to the tail. The kit does provide a swastika but you have to make it up from two separate decals.
Anyway here are some photos of the model as it currently stands. The finishing line is in site.
Going to need a couple of applications to get these triangle decals to sit nicely.
Thanks for checking in.

Looking good there. Nice idea on the nose decal ?. Strange about the swastika. My Eduard A3 came with both an assembled one and a make your own version?👍 1Comment

These will be the last pictures of the build before the final reveal. I have fitted the propeller and spinner together with front and rear undercarriage. I have taken some artistic licence with this build by adding the spinner spiral decal, not normally featured on this model together with the bomb. I just wanted to display the model showing all its various armament/ordinance options.
All I need to do now is give it a satin varnish, add some light weathering, exhaust stains etc and then paint and fit canopy.
Thanks for looking in.

Well I am calling this one done chaps. As I am not the best at weathering models I have decided to give this one only a minimal application of weathering in the form of exhaust staining and that's it. Apart from the poorly fitting wings in the beginning of the build the model went together really well. I will post some more completed photos in due course on the build thread gallery. Its been an honour to take part in this memorial build for Alan and I hope he will forgive me for going off the authentic course by adding the spinner spiral decal and the bomb. Thanks for following.
