You've done well with that yellow. I find it a horrible colour to paint whether with an airbrush or a brush.

Thanks Jim and Nick.
I've dropped a bo****k!
I've just noticed the yellow fuselage band is way too close to the rear of the aircraft by at least 4mm! It might not have been noticed on the finished model(or folks would be too kind to mention it) but I would know.
So back to the bench with brush in hand I go.......
Such is the lot of us model makers.Comment

Here you go, JIm.
A bit of 'Lady Luck' works wonders! Ready for it's final coat and general tidying up of the colour edges.
The original yellow was where that small indent is.
Bit of a tip for anyone else daft enough to make a similar mistake. Don't paint over the original yellow. Concentrate your efforts on the new band of colour only. If you do paint the original at the start, the colour will go progressively darker and you will never match the two shades. Once happy with the match, only then finally paint the whole thing. The trailing edge white is straight forward. Just use enough coats of white to obliterate the yellow, blending in each one to the original.
Cheers.

Finished.
Squeeky clean, just as the ground crew steps away......
I will add some weathering, a simple base etc. when I put some new images in Al's 'Completed'
A bit of history.....
The model is of No. 7 JG 54 during the winter on the Russian Front during WW2. Their aircraft were painted in various schemes. White paint was applied all over the upper surface over the factory colours or simply in white patches directly over the original colours. There was no 'Standard'. I've used an all over white, except where the upper main wing decals are. These would have been painted around when the white was applied. Painting the factory colours on the wing decals was a pain.....
About JG 54's boss.
Flying no. 10, Walter 'Nowi' Nowotny was the holder of the Knights Cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds. He shot down 258 enemy aircraft over the course of 442 combats.
He was killed flying a Me 262 during combat with American escort fighters on November 8th 1944.
Meanwhile here is the finished FW 190.
All brush painted.
After the all over coat of white, I marked out the pattern with a pencil then painted in the patches using the small pots of paint and the brush usually associated with Airfix Starter Packs.
As I didn't have the decals, I've used a bit of licence and used one's from my spares drawer. Not far off in the main.
A bit dark and the white really is white. Sorry about that.
Cheers all
I hope you approve Al......

First off, thanks to all you wonderful folks for such nice posts. It's made all the hair pulling, cursing and consequent contributions to our mantlepiece RNLI swearbox worth while!
Jim, they are or were, a deliberate part of the camo. of JG 54 and a right pig to pencil on and paint summat like too.....
Cheers and thanks again all.
