    a question of definition.........

im in the process of looking at the GB calendar, seeing whats coming up, planning ahead

theres a GB in september called 'armoured cars'

could we have some kind of 'official' definition of what an armoured car is please......does having a turret constitute part of that definititon?

Most of them have it....but isn't at all necessary.

If you have some model in mind, just ask if is it correct on the GB.

    As always.....from wikipedia...

A military armored (or armoured) car is a lightweight wheeled armored fighting vehicle, historically employed for reconnaissance, internal security, armed escort, and other subordinate battlefield tasks.[1] With the gradual decline of mounted cavalry, armored cars were developed for carrying out duties formerly assigned to horsemen.[2] Following the invention of the tank, the armored car remained popular due to its comparatively simplified maintenance and low production cost. It also found favor with several colonial armies as a cheaper weapon for use in underdeveloped regions.[3] During World War II, most armored cars were engineered for reconnaissance and passive observation, while others were devoted to communications tasks. Some equipped with heavier armament could even substitute for tracked combat vehicles in favorable conditions—such as pursuit or flanking maneuvers during the North African Campaign.

I reckon that fits the bill Paul - reconnaissance or armed escort is the M1151s stock in trade.

Actually can't we keep it very simple & say if it's got wheels & armour then it's ok?

After all, most WWII 'armoured cars' had a truck chassis so that leaves the way clear for anyone who wants to do this
