Preliminary Results of the 2012 GB polls Warning text heavy!!!

Here are the results of those darn polls.

Done a traffic light job on them to make things as clear as possible. Those in red did not make the cut I'm afraid. This brings us down to 17 subjects to be divided over the normal GB and SIG calender.

I have an Idea that could save us for more polls and I would like to hear what you think of it:

If we take the first four of the yellow group, those that scored 4 votes, and paint them green, we will have the 12 subjects. 8GB and 4SIG. Remember that I will be running the GBs Two at a time and as different as possible to spread interests as much as possible, if you don't like the one you can do the other. If you what to do both that's fine to. I will also try to do it so there is a full blown and a simpler one to try and get some more first timers to join in.

    OR

We stop at the first 8 which are by coincidence the green ones, and say that is that. Four GB Four SIG (gives me time to throw in a curve ball once in a while too)

As an example the first quarters GB could be WWI AND Helicopters- two very different subjects both with a lot of scope.

What I really need a lot of feedback on is which four to choose for the SIG builds.

Could I ask that you make a post with out any comments other than the GB you would pick on the first line then an empty line then your choice for the SIG in the next line. PLEASE USE THE TITLE FROM THE POLL AS SHOWN ABOVE. then you can write a comment after if you wish.

    Example-

GB= Modern Armour, Twin booms, helicopters and captured

SIG= The Pacific War. CRASH! Tank-busters and Warship

Modern armour as a GB 'cause I like building tanks. The Pacific as a SIG so there is loads of time to go at and its a vast subject.

The reason I ask that it's done that way is so I can find the info without having to read the whole post to find it.

I hope that you have taken the time to read this and I look forward to reading the feedback and hopefully be able to extract the data needed with out having to go back to the voting booth!!

I think take the first eight. I'll have to cogitate on which gets done as what!

      First eight for me too.

      G.B.:- Crash, WW1, Pacific, Captured

S.I.G.:- Vietnam, Modern Armour, Tank busters, Twin Boom

I don't really know the difference between the two catagories, so I'm not fussed what gets put in where!lol

Bit of clarification please Ian....I voted for 'The Pacific' but on re-reading it I see it is only 'In, over or under the water.' Does this mean the land battles cannot be included?

      Good work on the chart.

      Cheers,

      Ron

I also say top 8 then you can use the yellow ones as curve balls if you wish

GB = Twin booms, Modern armour, WW1, Tank busters

SIG = Crash, Pacific war, Vietnam, Captured

Chose this way you have more time for the SIG builds ( i think )

Yeah, I'm not entirely clear on the distinction between GB and SIG either...

As per normal a GB lasts 3 months an SIG lasts for 6.

lol. here is a cut and past of the list of suggestions from which the polls where taken.

              The list

              ARTILLERY PIECE no tanks allowed!

THE FIRST JET FIGHTERS faster. Flashier, noisier

              ISRAELI CONFLICTS Oj vaj

KOREAN WAR would you like MASH with that?

WWII in ASIA. Asia 30% of the Earth's land mass. Must be a suitable land battle there some where.

WWI Anything from the 'Great War'

ANIME/MANGA Keep it clean please. Tits & bums but no xxx.

NIGHT FIGHTERS new light on a dark subject.

              MODERN ARMOUR The Gulf wars?

              HELICOPTERS Get ya choppers out

THE PACIFIC WAR. As the name implies, if it floated on, flew over or lurked beneath the surface of The pacific Ocean this is the one!

I hope that sheds some light on things Ron.

Well, my 2p worth I would say, if time is the only real difference between GB and SIG:

                GB:

Captured, Tankbusters, Twin Booms, Modern Armour (these are all items which are probably going to be single models)

                SIG:

Vietnam, Crash!, Pacific War, WW1 (these are all things which either have more potential for dioramas which take longer, or in the case of WW1, where extra time can be allowed for rigging biplanes!)

The four yellow ones on 4 votes each can be held in reserve if one of the other topics doesn't generate much interest or people can't think of what to do...

Ian, Brickie and I were 'Paying attention at the back' but I though the distinction between a G.B. and a S.I.G. would be more defined than just the time factor. If it was sorted at this early stage it would save you getting any more nonsense from the likes of me!!! lol (And help folks decide which catagory to put builds in)...Just a though.

Thanks for the reply to my question re. 'The Pacific...if it floated on, flew over or lurked beneath the surface...' This implies that the land campaign on the islands, such as Tarawa, Iwo Jima and the like are excluded?

If this is so, is there any chance the subject can be expanded to include this aspect of the conflict in the Pacific.

Sorry to be a bit of a pain and it's only day(ish) one for the submissions!

                  Cheers,

                  Ron

It is not I that has 'decided' that the only difference between the two is the length of time. It kind of evolved that way as any suggestions for a more specific SIG where shot down in flames as being to specialist.

Correct. They would fall under the WWII in Asia, The land battles.

I believe that the options where well appointed in the initial discussion. Apparently not. For the sake of peace and harmony If you want to do an Island in the Pacific, fine. Just as long as there is sea involved.

I hope that this is an amicable solution and that there are no objections from the other members.

Thanks for agreeing to let prospective G.B.'ers use the Islands as part of the Pacific build. I was starting to sweat a bit through mis-interpreting the subject and voting for the wrong thing..silly me!

Incidently, there are many Islands involved in the conflict which were outside of Asia. Many in Australasia, some even further afield, take Pearl Harbour for instance. That was the reason for my confusion! lol

Anyway, enough of this nonsense!lol All's well, so let's look forward to what is done and when. Anything is fine by me, bring it on!

Once again Ian thanks for all your efforts with this, I'm sure we would all agree, no one else would have the nerve to take it on!
